Order of Worship
Christ the King
November 23, 2014
8:30 A.M.
“I pray…with the eyes of your heart enlightened, you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the
riches of his glorious inheritance among the saints, and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power for us who believe.”
(Ephesians 1:17-19)
GATHERING AROUND THE WORD
As the music begins, you are invited to join in worship.
Prelude
“Christ Is Made the Sure Foundation”
Richard Proulx
Congregational Introit (Hymn 108, stanza 1)
Of the Father’s love begotten, ere the worlds began to be, he is Alpha and Omega, he the
source, the ending he, of the things that are, that have been, and that future years shall see,
evermore and evermore!
Call to Worship
from Psalm 100
Pastor: Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness; come into
his presence with singing.
People: Know that the Lord is God. It is he that made us, and we are his; we are his people,
and the sheep of his pasture.
Pastor: Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise. Give thanks to him, bless his
name.
All: For the Lord is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all
generations.
* Hymn of Praise 367
“Come, Ye Thankful People, Come”
* Prayer of Confession
O Lord our God, you know us better than we know ourselves. You know the intentions of
our hearts, and the indifference with which we live our lives. You see fear inside us, and the
distance we put between ourselves and you. As we come before you now, believers and
doubters alike, we all share a deep need, for we are all lost without your grace. Search us,
O God, and know our hearts, forgive us all wrongs, challenge us, and call us to reconciliation
with you and all people. Transform us by your Spirit to live for you each day, to learn to
serve each other and, through Jesus Christ our Lord, to live in your kingdom. In Christ’s
name we pray. Amen.
* Assurance of Pardon
* Response of Joy (Hymn 582)
“Glory to God, Whose Goodness Shines on Me”

RESPONDING TO THE WORD
Offering
Offertory
“To the Glory of Our King”
Carol Choir; Gretchen H. Ross, Piano
To the glory of our king, we will joyful praises sing.
Let the sound of voices ring, bringing praise to Christ the king.
To the glory of our Lord, all unite with one accord.
He alone will be adored, let us ever love the Lord.
All who give to God their praise, all who seek his dwelling place,
All who will his Word embrace, look to God for truth and grace.
Robert Leaf
* Doxology (Hymn 606)

heavenly host; praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.
* Prayer of Dedication
Ritual of Friendship and Ministry Opportunities
Prayers of the People - Lord’s Prayer
Hymnal p. 35
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it
is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead
us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory,
forever. Amen.
BEARING THE WORD INTO THE WORLD
* Hymn of Dedication 749
“Come! Live in the Light!”
* Benediction
* Congregational Response (Hymn 108, stanza 6)
Christ, to Thee with God the Father, and, O Holy Ghost, to Thee, hymn and chant and high

At 4:30 p.m. we will gather in the Sanctuary for worship, which reminds us of the hopes and prayers of our ancestors in the faith
and helps us prepare for Christ’s coming. Worship will be followed by a Pasta House dinner in Fellowship Hall shortly after 5:00
p.m. After dinner, we’ll make Christmas crafts, decorate the church, and write cards to homebound members. We will finish around
7:00 p.m. Again this year, there will be an Express Line for advance tickets. Tickets will be available in the Gathering Place today!
Advance Ticket Prices (before Tuesday, November 25 at 4:00 p.m.): Adults & Youth (ages 11-older) $12, Children (ages 10younger) $6, family (same household) maximum is $36. After the November 25 deadline, prices will be Adults & Youth $14,

Women’s Association Christmas Program – Join the Women’s Association on Tuesday, December 2 in the Sanctuary at 11:00
a.m. to see the Ladue Horton Watkins High School Chorale and a cappella choirs perform. The catered luncheon will take place at
12:00 p.m. Call the church office at 314-993-4771 ext 0 to RSVP by 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 25 if you want to attend
the lunch. Cost is $10 per person.
Turkey & Ham Drive: Help Ladue Chapel reach their 2014 goal of 350 turkeys and hams. Please bring a turkey (10-12 pounds)
or a small ham to the church kitchen, place in the freezer and sign the notebook provided. The donated turkeys and hams will be
given to agencies supported by our Mission Outreach: Harris House, Hosea House, L.E.A.D Tutoring, Chapel for the Exceptional,
and Isaiah 58 Ministries. We hope you can help us gather turkeys and hams so that others may enjoy a good meal over the holidays.
Service of Remembrance, Healing, and Wholeness for the Holidays: The holidays can be a difficult time. If you are grieving
the loss of a loved one, suffering from depression or loneliness, or feeling the anxiety of the holiday rush and the pressure of the
season, we invite you to worship. The Deacons will host a service on December 3 at 6 p.m. in the Sanctuary (dinner will be served
at 5:30 p.m. in Fellowship Hall). We will read Scripture, listen to music, light candles, remember, and offer our prayers to God for
peace. Advent is a time of hope, where we remember that "the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it."
(John 1:5)
LCNS Holiday Mart 2014 - Ladue Chapel Nursery School is proud to host its 22nd annual Holiday Mart of Ladue Chapel,
benefiting the school’s educational and enrichment programs. Thursday, December 4 from 9:00 a.m.-6:30 p.m. and Friday,
December 5 from 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Come visit our exciting vendors who will present jewelry, clothing, purses, home décor,
children’s accessories, and much more.
Christmas Light Recycling - Did you know that last year Ladue Chapel recycled over 400 lbs. of Christmas lights that our
members found were no longer working? Again this year we will have a collection box in place in the Mission alcove next to the
Fireside Room for all those lights that our members or friends discover are no longer working. Please be a good steward of the
earth & recycle those lights rather than sending them to the landfill.
The Communion Committee is looking for assistants to help prepare monthly communion. Two assistants work together on the
Saturday morning before Communion Sunday to set the communion table and prepare the juice trays. On Sunday morning, the
bread is put out on the communion table. Those assisting at the 8:30 a.m. worship service will refill juice trays for the 11:00 a.m.
worship service. Those assisting at the 11:00 a.m. worship service will clean off the communion table, wash and put away trays,
pitcher and chalice. Training is provided. This is a simple, fun ministry to Ladue Chapel for the glory of God. For more details
email Karol Sibley at sibleyk@sbcglobal.net.
The Funeral Committee welcomes anyone interested in serving as a host/hostess for memorial and funeral services. Please
contact Susie Sivewright at 314-993-2546 or ssive6@gmail.com, if you would like to be a part of this special ministry.
Annual Women’s Retreat – January 30-31, 2015: This year’s retreat will be at Marianist Retreat Center in Eureka, about a 30minute drive from church. The theme this year is “Your Place at the Table: Discerning God’s Call for Your Life.” Brochures are
available on the Welcome Table in the Gathering Place. For more information, contact Sarah Brouwer at 314-993-4771 ext 3123
