Alpha Rotex:
The Alpha Rotex, with its triangular footprint and a height of 68 meters, is the
highlight of Quartier Alpha. It is also the tallest building at Frankfurt Airport, one
of the world’s largest airports with over 5,000 flights a week to more than 300
destinations. The Alpha Rotex is located at a unique traffic hub thanks to its
immediate proximity to the airport’s ICE long-distance station and to the
“Frankfurter Kreuz” interchange. Terminal 2 is a short walk from the Alpha
Rotex.

Construction duration:
In just 18 months of construction, over 400 workers were at the site every day at
peak times, performing such activities as excavating 65,000 cubic meters of
soil, using 5,000 metric tons of steel, handling 28,500 cubic meters of concrete
and installing a 12,000 square meter state-of-the-art double-skin facade
enabling natural ventilation and extremely effective acoustic insulation.
Special conditions:
The building’s special features include the propeller-shaped footprint and five
30-meter high conservatories, which are offset from the eighth floor up. The
Alpha Rotex is an architectural landmark in the airport environment and is the
tallest building at Frankfurt Airport.

“The emblematic architecture of the Alpha Quartier is best appreciated from the
air and the highway. The buildings provide space for restaurants and stores,
which makes the Quartier an attractive destination and a lively center,” says Jo.
Franzke, Architect. The renowned Jo. Franzke architectural firm was hired to
develop the Alpha Rotex. Founded in Frankfurt am Main in 1986, the firm
designs and builds office buildings, residential buildings and airports around the
world.
