Please, please, please study with your student!
Every week there will be a DGP quiz on Thursday
(in Language Arts) and a DOS quiz on Friday (in
Social Studies). There are also other quizzes
during the week. It is very important that your
student studies at home.

Social Studies Update:

We’ve started our responsibilities as a citizen. After we finish these, we will start our
Bill of Rights. These are very abstract and hard for students to get. We learn hand
signals with each amendment, please review these with your child nightly.

** This week we will be learning how to divide using various strategies such as the doubling
method. Next week, ask your child to explain the doubling method.
**Please note: Students completed their Multiplication Quiz~Friday, August 16, 2013.
Also, PLEASE review multiplication facts daily with your child. This is soooo important for
their success in MATH….THANKS!
Science Update:
** We are continuing working on Inquiry Skills Scientist use.
**”Fly Like an Eagle”
: Students will conduct the Airplane Experiment, learning how
scientist interpret data and use the 7-steps to the Scientific Method.
**Vocabulary for the week: (inquiry, investigation, criteria, conclusion, scientific method, graphs,
diagrams, volume, quantitative data, qualitative data, infer, independent variable, controlled variable,
dependent variable)

changed to ~Friday, August 23, 2013….PLEASE ensure your child study and
is prepared for these quizzes!!!!!
