Hours of Operation
Please call the center if your child(ren) will be absent: (936) 597-6800. We follow Montgomery
Independent School District (MISD) closings for inclement weather. The school will operate Monday
through Saturday throughout the year except for New Year’s Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day,
Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and the Friday after, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day.
Certain other days may be designated for closing, with an appropriate notice.
Little Angels Early Learning Academy is open from 6:00am to 8:00pm, Monday through Friday, and 8:00am
to 5:00pm Saturdays. Saturday care must be on a routine schedule or requires an advance notice of one
(1) week if not regularly scheduled. We are sorry, but drop-in service is NOT available on Saturdays.
Please accompany your child inside the building each morning to assure contact with our staff and sign
him/her in on the attendance sheet, located in your child(ren)’s class.
All children must be signed in and out each day.
Objectives
We will care for your child(ren) in a loving Christian environment. We aim to support growing families by
providing a biblical learning environment for young children while protecting a parent’s pocket book.
We feel every child is an individual who has his/her own rate of physical development as well as their own
pace of learning. Each child is accepted, loved, nurtured, and taught as an individual with this thought in
mind. We will encourage and build each child’s imagination and creativity. We will instill a greater sense
of self-worth and encourage self-confidence. We will provide activities and an environment that will
nurture the child’s self-esteem. Above all else, do our best to have the child gain and keep a positive selfimage. Every child is guided through the day with positive reinforcement in all activities, always
encouraged to try and try again, and is never pressured into participation of any activity.
We use the Abeka Christian based curriculum, which includes dramatic play, creative art activities, music,
science activities, block play, sensory experience, daily outdoor activities, the celebration of birthdays,
and holidays. Children will be exposed to shapes, colors, numbers, and letters through developmentally
appropriate activities taught using small group instruction.

Keeping information updated: It is the responsibility of the parents/guardians to provide the center with
updated information concerning changes in addresses, telephone numbers, custody arrangements, and
emergency contact persons.
We will notify families in writing of any changes to our operational policies and enrollment procedures.
You will be required to sign a form acknowledging that you received the changes.
Tuition and Fees
Tuition is based on facility and staffing that we must have available in order to care properly for your child.
Parents may pay for the entire month, or they may pay ½ of the month's tuition on the 1st, and pay the
other ½ by the 15th. If you choose to pay weekly, payments are due every Monday, or the beginning of
care for that week. Payments are considered late on the 1st working day after the due date. A fee of $5.00
will be assessed for each day payments are received late. Monthly tuition is calculated using the weekly
fee x 4.33 (average number of weeks in a month during a fiscal year). I do take Child Care Assistance. If
you need more information on that please get with the Director so she can assist you. Tuition is also based
on a 12 hour day. If your child is in care longer than 12 hours, additional fees will apply.

that day added onto your weekly rate.
If your child is in care for more than 12 hours a day, a $10 fee per day will be added onto your bill.

Parents on NCI must pay the parent fee at the beginning of the month.
Also, the Center has the following fees which are incurred in certain situations:
•
•
A returned check fee of $25.00 is assessed for every check or electronic withdrawal returned by
your bank. In addition, if the return causes your payment to be late, you are also assessed the
appropriate late payment fee. If you have a return check one time, you will be required to pay
with cash, money order, cashier check or credit card.
A late fee of $15.00 is charged for the first 15 minutes after closing that the child remains at
center. An additional $2.00 per minute will be charged for the additional minutes after the first
15. Late fees are due at the time that the child is picked up.
ALL PAYMENTS ARE DUE BEFORE CHILD CARE AND ARE NON-REFUNDABLE.
When we have field trips, there may be a fee that incurs. A notice will be posted, you will have an
opportunity to agree to your child participating in the field trip and paying the amount that is required to
go on the field trip.
Tax Statement
A statement will be provided before January 31st of each year for those who plan to expense childcare
when filing taxes with the IRS. Please make arrangements to pick up these forms; they will not be mailed.
Parent/Teacher Relationships and Parent Visits
Parental input for program procedures and development is welcome, and should be discussed with the
Directors before approaching individual teachers. Our staff is interested in answering all questions and in
helping you, as parents, to understand what your child is doing. Parents are encouraged to attend their
child’s class periodically in order to participate in the learning environment we provide. Parents are also
welcome to attend all school functions and special themed-day events. It is not necessary to secure prior
approval to visit your child during the day. Since our daily food service is for the children only, it may be
necessary to make arrangements the morning of if you plan to have lunch with your child.
DAILY HEALTH REPORTS: Children under 24 months will receive a daily note each day documenting briefly
the child’s daily activity to include the child’s mood, eating schedule, diapering schedule, activities and
items needed to be brought to the center. Children 24 months and over will get a weekly report sent
home on Fridays.

PARENT BEHAVIOR at the center: We are committed to providing a safe, nurturing and caring
environment for all. We speak to the children with respect and never use any form of belittling, corporal
punishment, or improper language. The center is drug, alcohol and tobacco free. We ask that
parents/guardians follow our philosophy when at our center, center’s operation and activities. If you
choose not to follow this behavior, you will be asked to leave the facility for the safety of the children. If
you refuse to leave, the law will get involved. Our concern is the safety of the children in care.
Arrival & Departure Procedures
Parents are required to sign the attendance sheet upon arrival and departure. Every child must be signed
out. As a result, no child will be released from the playground area. Our responsibility begins when you
place your child in the care of a staff member and ends when you take him/her from the care of a staff
member. Please do not allow your child to wander off unattended or leave the building ahead of you. For
safety purposes, only those listed on the enrollment forms as designated person for pick up will be
permitted to leave with your child/children. If a circumstance should arise for someone other than those
on your list to pick up your child/children, you will need to update your list in advance. We will require a
Valid ID for identification of an individual we do not recognize. Please inform those you have designated
to pick up of our policy.
If there is a custody dispute; the parents must provide a copy of the court’s custody decree. If no court
papers are received, then both parents will be allowed to provide information on who is allowed to pick
up the child.
*When dropping off your child, routine upbeat departures will make their transition to our care more
comfortable.
Nap Time
We are required by law to provide rest time for all the children in the center, between the hours of 1:00
pm and 3:00 pm. We provide the nap mats and blankets. If your child has a special blanket or pillow that
they would like to use, you are more than welcome to bring it.
Meals and Snacks
Little Angels will provide breakfast, a nutritious lunch, an afternoon snack, and dinner. The center provides
water, milk, and juice for the children to drink. We allow parents to send snacks in celebration of birthday
or special occasions for the child’s class. The children will be taught prayer before a meal as well as table
manners. We will be teaching your child about good nutrition and manners, this is an excellent
opportunity for reinforcement.
►A child that is allergic or sensitive to a particular food. In this case, a physician’s note is required, which
must state which food(s) are to be avoided. In those cases, the identified foods will not be served. Families
must provide acceptable substitutions if desired. Please notify the Director upon enrollment if this applies
to your child.

Parent Handbook
If your child will not be eating the Center’s food, you may provide a meal from home. Please ensure that
the meal is nutritious, and do not include foods that will cause problems in the classroom, such as candy,
gum, sweets, or soda.
Breast Feeding
We provide a glider and footstool for parents that choose to breast feed their child while in day care. You
may choose to either come up to the center and nurse your child or send breast milk in a marked
container. We also provide a Boppy Pillow to help your child while nursing. We also have cold water for
the parent to help stay hydrated while nursing.
Injuries
The staff makes every effort to ensure the safety of your child while in our care. Unfortunately, accidents
may occur. Teachers and Center Staff are trained in CPR and basic first aid procedures. We have
implemented the following procedures, should your child experience an injury while at our center. The
teacher will immediately advise the administrative staff. The administrative staff will determine the
severity of the injury (i.e., scrapes, bumps, bruises, etc.) We will administer first aid and forward an
accident report home with the person that picks up your child at the end of the day.
In case of a serious accident or injury, EMS (911) will be contacted first. Within the limits of their ability,
the staff will administer first aid. We will make every attempt to contact you immediately. If we cannot
reach you, we will release your child into the custody of the emergency paramedics to transport your child
for immediate medical care. Staff is prohibited from transporting an injured child. A staff member will
remain with your child until you arrive.
Any medical bills that may arise from an accident are the responsibility of the parent.
Children’s Health
Every effort is made by Center staff to prevent the spread of disease. Even with precautions, children
entering care are likely to experience an increase in mild illnesses. The frequency and severity of these
will vary from child to child.
However, an average child under the age of five has six to twelve mild illnesses per year.
When a child is ill, they need a special level of attention and care, and we are not able to provide that care
for one child, because we must also consider the rest of the children. Also, when ill children are at the
Center, they are potentially spreading germs to other children and to Center staff. In addition, an ill child
is vulnerable to catching a second illness while their immune system is overworked.
If your child is so ill that they need special care, and they are not able to participate normally in Center
activities, they should remain at home. If they become ill at school, you will be called upon to take your
child home. In the event that your child becomes ill and we cannot locate a parent, we will contact the
person(s) you designated on your emergency care form, and ask them to pick up your child. The Center’s
staff is the final judges of the severity of illness.

Exclusion from Center
Fever over 100.4 degrees. Children should stay at home at least 24 hours after a normal temperature is
achieved WITHOUT the help of fever-reducing medications. For example, if your child goes home on
Monday with a fever, they may come back to the Center on Wednesday, if their temperature was normal
on Tuesday. The 24-hour waiting period allows your child's immune system to regain strength.
Fever over 99 degrees with a stiff neck or back. Children may return only with a doctor's written
permission.
Diarrhea (watery, bad-smelling stools more than once in succession). Children may return when normal
function returns.
.Vomiting (two or more episodes in the last 24 hours). Children may return when they can retain a light
meal.
Persistent hacking or congested cough with sore throat (very red or blistered throat). Children may
return with doctor's written permission.
Green nasal discharge (indicated a respiratory infection which requires treatment). Children may return
with doctor's written permission.
Difficulty in breathing to the point where child is very uncomfortable or unable to sleep normally.
Convulsions.
Persistent pain in abdomen.

Parent Handbook
A child may be excluded from the immunization requirements for reason of conscience, including religious
belief. An official notarized affidavit form issued by the Department of State Health Services will be
required if your child does not have immunizations.
For children attending a pre-kindergarten or school away from the child-care center, we require either a
copy of the current immunization record; or a signed statement from the child’s parent that the child’s
immunization record is on file at the pre-kindergarten or school that the child attends.
Medication will be administered for non-contagious ailments. Prescription medicine must be in its original
prescription packaging, and the parents must sign in all information about the name of the medication,
dosing and time to be given on Medication Log in the Director’s office. All medicines should be left with
the Director, not in the child’s classroom or cubby.
If your child needs over-the-counter medication, please follow the same procedure. Over-the-counter
medication must be age appropriate. If it is not age appropriate, we will need a prescription for the child’s
doctor in order to give the medication to your child. Children who show signs of illness should not attend
school. If a child becomes ill while in our care, we will notify the parent or guardian immediately and
arrangements must be made to have the child picked up.
Employees are not required to get any immunizations to work here.
Vacation Policy
Families will be allowed one-week vacation per year for which no tuition will be expected. Tuition is only
free if taking a full week without care. Two weeks advance notice must be given to Director. The children
have to be enrolled 90 days prior to taking a vacation to qualify for a vacation week free of tuition.
Children that are absent during summer months, parent will have to pay a week tuition to hold the child’s
spot. That week will be credited to the first week that the child returns. If the parent doesn’t pay the week
to hold the spot, LAELA cannot guarantee your child’s spot will be held.
Photos of Children
We take pictures of special events and activities that we do during the day. We will post them on our
website and our social media sites to share with other parents and potential families. If you prefer not to
have your child photographed please let the director know so she can inform the staff.
Release of Child(ren)
Children will only be released to persons listed on the Authorization and Consent Form. Proper
identification will be required of any person picking up child. The Director should be notified in advance,
in writing, if someone other than the parent is to pick up the child. In the event of discrepancy, the child
will be detained until the Director can contact the parent by telephone. Temporary changes for the child’s
release cannot be authorized over the phone.

Learning Academy. The number of children transported shall not exceed the number of operable seat
belts.
In the event of an emergency, on-site transportation will be provided by local medical personnel or by the
Director. If the situation is less serious and does not require an ambulance, a parent will be contacted and
should make arrangements to meet the Director at the designated facility immediately. The staff will
remain with the child until the parent arrives. Emergency information and First Aid kits will be on hand
for each field trip. The staff is trained in emergency First Aid and CPR. The staff is professional and
committed to quality care of your children.
Behavior Management and Discipline
All teachers at Little Angels will manage behavior in their areas/classrooms in a non-punitive, age
appropriate manner. Staff will have ongoing training in the areas of discipline and behavior management.
All staff is oriented to the programs philosophy and policies by the Director.
Toddlers will begin to learn self-control by observing the natural consequences of their behavior. Teachers
will quickly intervene if a problem does occur and redirect the child to a more appropriate activity.
Language is utilized to help toddlers begin to identify their feelings and learn to deal with them in a socially
acceptable manner. Time outs are used, one minute for each year of the child’s age, when necessary.
Pre-schooler’s will be encouraged to learn problem-solving skills and become self-correcting. They will be
given the opportunity to choose alternatives that will enable them to participate in a socially acceptable

consequences to both positive and negative behavior. Time outs are used, one minute for each year of
the child’s age, when necessary.
School-age children will be encouraged to learn problem solving skills and become self-correcting. Staff
will assist children in creative problem solving by helping the child choose alternatives that will enable
them to participate in a socially acceptable manner without reinforcing their negative behavior. Teachers
will assist in pointing out logical consequences to both positive and negative behavior, and give children
choices in solving problems. Staff will use positive reinforcement while supervising children, encouraging
them to cooperate and continue using appropriate behavior.
No child shall be subject to abuse, neglect, cruel, unusual, severe, or corporal punishment including:
Any type of physical hitting in any manner upon the body
Punishment which subject a child to verbal abuse, ridicule, or humiliation
Denial of food, rest, bathroom facilities, punishment for soiling, wetting, or not using the toilet, or
punishment related to eating/not eating food.
A child may be suspended if he/she uses any techniques to hurt another person in the Little Angels Early
Learning Academy and/or will not cooperate with staff. The Director will contact the parent immediately
and a meeting with the child, the parent, and teacher and the Director will take place before the child will
be allowed to return to the program. An individual behavior management plan/contract will be written,
addressing the behaviors that need to be changed.
If a problem arises between the child and teacher, parents should schedule a parent-teacher conference
to attempt to resolve the issue at hand. If the problem continues, contact the Director to schedule a
meeting between teacher, parent, Director, and child.
Clothing and Personal Belongings
Children are not allowed to bring personal belongings such as toys or electronics from home. The Center
is not and will not be responsible for any items brought from home, including jewelry.
Your child will have the opportunities to experience a variety of activities. Children will be using art

clothing or shoes that should not get dirty.
All children will go outside for a minimum of 30 minutes per day, weather permitting.
Each child will need one complete set of clothes at the center. Please mark all personal items for easy
identification, such as coats, sweaters, gloves, blankets, etc. Children will be required to wear close toed

Infants & Toddlers: Parents must provide the following: Diapers or Pull-ups, Wipes, Ointment, Bottles
(liners if necessary), Sippy Cups, Pacifier. We will notify parents when their child is running low on supplies
Emergency Procedure
Your child’s safety is of primary concern to Little Angels Early Learning Academy.
Evacuation of Canter / Property
Evacuation plans are posted throughout the day care, in the unlikely event, the children will be evacuated
to an emergency location, and you will be notified as soon as possible. Our emergency location of choice
is the Montgomery Public Library located at 202 Bessie Price Owen Dr, Montgomery, Texas 77356. Little
Angels had a Chevrolet Suburban that will sit 7, and the teachers will use their personal vehicles for
emergency evacuation use. We have extra infant car seats on hand, in the event of an emergency
evacuation.
In the case that we do have to evacuate we have a binder with the entire emergency contact information
for all the students that we will take with us. Before we leave the premises we will take attendance to
assure all children are accounted for then proceed to the Montgomery Public Library. Once we have
reached the Montgomery Public Library teachers will begin calling the children’s parents to notify them
that we had to evacuate and inform them as to where they may pick up their children.
Fire Safety
Emergency plans for a fire is posted by each exit door in each classroom and is practiced monthly, so your
child is familiar with the drill and not alarmed in the case of a real emergency. In the case that we have a
real fire the children will be transported to our pre-planned evacuation site. We will notify parents as soon
as possible to let them know that they can pick their children up from the Montgomery Public Library.
Severe Weather
Severe weather drills are also practiced monthly. During the drill, or an actual weather alert, children will
go to the assigned sage area inside the building. Our assigned safe area is the main hallway away from the
doors and windows.
Other Emergencies
In the case that your child has a medical or dental emergency the parent of the child will be notified
immediately.
Child Abuse
The teachers will have annual training to keep them up to date with the proper procedure for recognizing,
preventing, and reporting abuse. We have a packet from Children’s Safe Harbor explaining what child
abuse is; sexual, physical, emotional, and neglect. It also ells what the physical and behavioral signs of
abuse are. If we suspect abuse we will notify the DFPS and make a report. We can give the parent of
abused or neglected children information of where they may be able to receive help, such as Children’s
Safe Harbor in Conroe. All teachers will be trained in the warning signs of abuse and neglect, such as not

Parent Handbook
To report abuse or neglect, the PRS hotline may be reached at 800-252-5400. Parents can search for online
child care at www.txchildcaresearch.org.
In-Home Babysitting
Little Angels Early Learning Academy does not render childcare services off its premises, except in the
event of field trips that have been authorized in advance by the parent/guardian, or in the event of an
emergency evacuation. Accordingly, if you arrange with staff members for off-premise care for your child,
the staff member undertakes such service on his/her own behalf and not as our employee. Little Angels
Early Learning Academy staff members are selected and retained only on the basis of their fitness for
rendering childcare services in a controlled and fully supervised childcare program. LITTLE ANGELS EARLY
LEARNING ACADEMY OFFERS NO ASSURANCE OF THE FIRNESS OF ITS STAFF MEMBERS FOR PREFORMING
THESE AND OTHER SERVICES IN AN ENVIRONMENT THAT IS NOT PROFESSIONALLY SUPERVISED (SUCH AS
TRANSPORTING CHILDREN OR CARING FOR THEM IN YOUR HOME) AND NONE SHOULD BE IMPLIED OR
INFERRED UNDER ANY CIRCUNSTANCES.
Notifications and School Information
Required postings, school notifications, state licensing, insurance information, etc., is located in the school
entry hall on the bulletin board and framed on the entry hall wall. It is the parent’s responsibility to read
the postings and understand and comply with any information provided therein. If parent needs
clarification on any information they may go to the Director with their questions.
Parents will be notified of any policy changes in writing. Notices that are private will be handed to the
parents by the child’s caregiver or the Director personally. School newsletters and updating general school
happenings will be left in your child’s cubby or attached to their hooks on a regular basis. Children in the
Infant and Toddler rooms will be given daily sheets, noting the child’s eating, sleeping, and changing habits
for the day. Caregivers for the older students are also available to discuss your child’s activities on a daily
basis, either before you drop your child off, or upon returning to pick up your child.
