HOUSE FORUM:
Dunne: About BRHR 12-01 I wrote this resolution to make our voices heard about cell phone
reception issues.
Jones: How can we edit this to include other areas on campus?
Broudy: This was Parliamentarian Dunne’s idea; you are welcome to write another resolution.
Mustain: What do you expect this resolution to do?
Dunne: Terry Mena told me facilities and others are aware of this issue so I figured the House
should get involved.
Mustain: Why does the House need to get involved?
Dunne: I don’t want us to be left out.
Cepeda: Motion to extend speaker’s time
Coarsey: Second
Rudnick: Friendly amendment to adjust time extension.
Cepeda: Accept
Cyrise: Aware you are by writing this resolution you are showing that the House cares about the
safety of students?
Dunne: I’m aware, IVA is not the only residence involved.
Jones: How does House support make a difference?
Dunne: We show support, would you rather stand by your window or go outside to make a call
or text?
Jones: The goal is to put more pressure?
Dunne: Yes
Coaresy: Do you expect the House to fund this?
Broudy: This is a resolution, no money is involved.
Dunne: This is just a resolution.
McCoy: Motion to extend speakers time
Rudnick: Second
McCoy: Do you have price list?
Broudy: No this is just a resolution. The newest UP talks about this issue. Boca students have an
issue with this and that’s why we’re advocating for them.
McCoy: I’m just curious what the cost would be.
Broudy: We don’t have anything on that.
Cepeda: Motion to extend speaker’s time
Wimberly: Second
Rudnick: I object
Cepeda: POP
Mustain: POP
Shirana: POP
Roll Call Vote: Majority votes not to extend speaker’s time.
Fleming: Motion to admit all members
Rudnick: Second
Broudy: We should table all these bills to committees. BRHB 12-01 we do this every year. I
advise you to make a friendly amendment to change “allocates” to “transfer.” An allocation is
giving money to a group, they have to spend that money on what they wrote but it’s easier to do
a transfer so to ensure they don’t spend money on something else add another clause stating that
if the event does not take place the money will be transferred back to the Boca House
contingency account.

SPECIAL ORDER SPEECHES:
Dunne: About the resolution if any of you live on campus you would feel what I feel.
LEGISLATIVE REPORT:
Broudy: I’m passing the attendance policy around everyone take one. There’s a reason its strict
when people are not showing up we can lose quorum. If you don’t want to be here you don’t
have to be. Starting next week attendance counts, the points have been divided for committee
and House meeting absences. The Pro Tempore is in charge of the attendance policy. Once
you’ve hit four points of unexcused absences you are out of the House. Committees are being
assigned next week every bill will originate in committees.
Mustain: Motion to extend speaker’s time
Nicotra: Second
Broudy: Email me your availability by 5pm on Wednesday.
Cyrise: Can we amend the attendance policy?
Mustain: Point of Information, this is a policy not a bill.
Broudy: The purpose of the attendance policy is to make sure we have quorum.
Caglayan: What is max number of committees you can serve on?
Broudy: Just one
Cagalyn: Motion to admit all members
Rudnick: Second
McCoy: You can only miss three committee meetings and three House meetings?
Broudy: Yes. And missing first and last roll call is an absence.
Perez: All committee meetings are on Fridays?
Broudy: Yes
Boydman: House members who have to leave early are penalized for whole meeting?
Broudy: Yes because we get to the point of not having quorum. If we only need one more person
for quorum and I’m late I penalize everyone.
Boydman: Motion to extend speakers time
Rudnick: Second
Runick: Friendly amendment to time extension
Boydman: Accept
Cook: What about half points?
Broudy: We used to do that, it’s tedious.
Mustain: Motion to close the floor
