April 4-24: This week was a very difficult week in room 45, it seems as though Spring Fever has hit. We had extreme behaviors by all students this week and this is absolutely unacceptable. As we all know the end of the year is quickly approaching and with that said there are a lot of fun activities on the horizons. These activities are a privilege. If students are unable to demonstrate expected behaviors they will not be invited to participate in activities such as field trips, classroom socials, movie day, etc. I am asking that you all please speak to your children and let them know you are expecting positive communication notes. In addition, there have been outrageous unsafe behaviors on the bus. Students will be getting written up for bussing behaviors. It is my understanding that after three write ups your child may lose the right to ride to bus. We do not want to see this happen so please remind your child of bus safety. (Seatbelts on at all times, hands and feet to self, respectful voices while following directives from the bus driver) Lastly, Alvin Dunn's Gift of Time is coming close to an end. This school wide fundraiser encourages teachers and students to share a fun experience together. Tickets are only 1 dollar! Once tickets are purchased students place tickets in the tub they are a hoping to win, if their name is selected they win the prize. Myself, Ms. Hasan and Ms. Truxsaw will be taking the winning child and 3 friends to Sky Zone. Please consider donating, all proceeds go towards supporting the great programs that we offer at Alvin Dunn. 4-17: We are still in search of recyclables (used glass jars, recycled paper, toilet and paper towel rolls, egg cartons, rubber bands, bread ties, bottle caps, string, and plastic drink lids). If you have any of these items at home, please send them in with your child. We will be doing an art project for Earth Day. Thank you in advance for your support. This week everyone was sent a green moving form. I need to have all of those forms turned in ASAP. This is one way that district tracks numbers and holds spots in programs. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated. Thank you to Esteban, Jeremeijah, Cody, Connor, Israel, LaRue, and Vanessa for returning the forms signed. Lastly, Alvin Dunn is celebrating the Gift of Time. This is a school wide fundraiser that encourages teachers and students to share a fun experience together. A flyer went home before spring break, and information is also on the school website. Tickets are only 1 dollar! Once tickets are purchased students place tickets in the tub they are a hoping to win, if their name is selected they win the prize. I, Ms. Hasan and Ms. Truxsaw will be taking the winning child and 3 friends to Sky Zone. Please consider donating, all proceeds go towards supporting the great programs that we offer at Alvin Dunn. 4-10: We hope you had a great Spring Break with your amazing children! We are happy to have them back and we are looking forward to what our last and finally trimester for the year has in store for us. This week kindergarten and second grade both went on field trip. Kinder enjoyed the Flower Fields and second grade hiked to Sprouts and got to go into the giant deep freeze which they thought was pretty cool! Our third graders have started to reverse mainstream to Ms. Hasan's classroom. Ms. Hasan will likely be the classroom that our current third graders will transition to next year and since her and I both have unique teaching styles we thought it would be a great idea to have the students build a relationship with her prior to the 2015-2016 school year! Finally, we have a classroom request. If possible, can you please send in recycles (used glass jars, cans, recycled paper, toilet and paper towel rolls, egg cartons, rubber bands, bread ties, bottle caps, plastic drink lids). We will be doing an art project for Earth Day. Thank you in advance for your support.
