When he was living with his father he learned to lie and not tell the truth but now that he finds someone that he can trust he finally gives in. He begins to do the opposite of what he’s done all his life He begins to make his own choices, and even though they don’t always work out, it’s a start Literary Analyses for Chapters 27-29 ➢ Tone : The tone in the beginning of the chapter is full of suspicion because of the setting being in a house with a corpse. “Just then I heard somebody coming down the stairs, back behind me” (Twain 178). Toward the end of the chapter the tone changes to regret; the character wishes that they had done something different to change the situation. “Blame it, I says I might get hunted up and jailed;...I’ve worsened it a hundred times, and I wish to goodness I’d just let it alone, dad fetch the whole business” (Twain 181). ➢ Diction: The diction is stronger toward the ending of the chapter, full of emotion to fill the setting of the funeral “They had borrowed a melodeum-a sick one;.. it was pretty skreeky and colicky, and everybody joined in and sung, and Peter was the only one that had a good thing, according to my notion. ➢ Figurative Language: While there are many quick little passages with figurative language these two stuck out the most. “Her eyes a blazing higher and higher and higher all the time” (Twain 171) Study Guide Questions (#6) ❖ Why does Huck say at the end of Ch. 28, “Tom Sawyer couldn’t ‘a’ done it no neater himself. Of course he would ‘a’ throwed more style into it, but I can’t do that very handy, not being brung up to it”? Huck states that Tom couldn’t have pulled off the plan any better that he did because Huck feels that he has used what he has learned from Tom after following him during their younger years, however he states that Tom would have added style to the plan because Tom has experienced so many more adventures compared to Huckleberry. Study Guide Questions (#7-8) ❖ Why is the crowd laughing and shouting as they bring the second set of “Wilks brothers” to the square? The crowd is laughing and shouting at the second set of Wilks brother because for one when the real wilks brothers do show up they look like a wreck and the people in the square see these brothers as the imposters, not the King and the Duke. ❖ What disappointment does Huck face at the end of Ch. 29? The disappointment that Huck faces at the end of chapter 29 was the King and the Duke caught jim and Huck as they just thought they had escaped from the both of them. Works Cited Twain, Mark.
