Kale Hintz-Theo 210 Faith & Life- 1/15/2014 Worldview My worldview as of today: #1- What is Prime Reality? I am a Christian and I truly do believe in a higher power. I believe in a God that created mankind and that He is the higher power. I believe that we are created in his image and that after death we will return to his kingdom. My parents raised me instilling importance of attending church and the importance of trusting in God. I regularly attend church and consider myself a very faithful. There have been a large number of life changing events that I have experienced that have shaped my life and why I truly do believe in God. With that being said I do not discredit science which is often seen to be the opposition to Christianity. I personally feel that there is an overlap of the two. I feel that God created everything but that evolution is possible and that there has been proof to show that it has been possible. I believe that the true answer will only be found when we use the tools of knowledge along what there is to learn from the Bible in order to discover the truth of how everything has come to be. #2- What is the nature of the world? I personally feel, as I said before, that all was originally created from God. I believe that God created everything with an intended purpose and that he created mankind in his image and granted us with the ability to learn and rule over all creation here on earth. I feel that everything is organized and that God has not put anything on Earth without a purpose. I also believe that there is both a physical and spiritual aspect to all living things. I believe that God created us as a physical being and intended us to live a life here on Earth, and that there is a spiritual life after the physical body has worn out. #3- What is the nature of humanity? God created man to rule over all other creation and that he granted us the knowledge to learn and have free will. I feel that mankind’s ability to learn and have free will is the reason that there are so many different kinds of people and why many people have conflicting interests. I also feel that this is why some people do bad things that others would never do. God has granted us with free will and it is in our nature to sin in one way or another. I feel that the true difference between a “good” and “bad” person is how we react after we have sinned or done something wrong. If a person is willing to repent of their sins and learn from their mistakes and truly try to not continuing to sin they will be looked upon by God with favor and forgiveness. When a person commits a sin and is not willing to repent or continues to commit the wrongful actions this is truly what makes them a bad person and will lead to worse decisions down the road. #4-What is the nature of death? I believe that God created and placed us here on earth to allow us to live a life on earth. I also believe that God created us with the intention of life on Earth to be short and that if we lived a good life and lived in His way that we would be granted spiritual eternal life in Heaven. As of now I do not understand why early death or serious diseases happen to good people, but I do know that God has a plan for all of us and that there is a reason behind all that he does, even if we are not able to understand what it would be. #5-What is the possibility for knowledge? God created us with the ability to learn, and to live a better life with what we are able to learn. All of mankind is given the ability to learn, but individuals are not placed in the same situations or given the equal ability to learn. I feel that this is because God has a plan for us and equips us with the tools that we will need for our life that he wishes us to live. This is evident in everyday life, seeing children that are in troubled communities that are not likely to go to college or even finish high school. This is not to say however that these people will not live out a life that impacts the world in a positive way. I also feel that God created us with a depressed ability to learn, meaning that we can only take in so much in a life time. This is shown with science in the fact that we are thought to only use 10% of our brain. I feel that God knew that knowledge was a powerful tool and that the ability to learn too much would be bad for humanity. #6- What is the basis for ethics and morality? In many aspects of life there is defiantly a right and wrong. God specifically lays out rules and laws that tell us how we should live our life. I believe that we should follow God’s law very closely and that in situations when the Bible doesn’t give a definite right or wrong we should allow people in their own life to make their decisions as long as no one else is harmed or negatively affected by their decisions. At the end of our lives here on Earth we will all be judged by God on the way we lived our life. #7- What is the meaning of history? Life obviously changes for humanity over time and I feel that without the past we would never reach our full potential that God has intended for us. I believe that mankind’s purpose is to rule over all creation and to preserve what we can here on Earth for as long as we can. I feel that we have been failing by using up the resources that we have been provided and that we must use what we have learned from the past to make a better future for those generations that are to follow our life here on Earth. This is currently my worldview and I know that I will change my views as I age and become more knowledgeable and live through different situations that God has intended for me.
