This page is intended to be an example to help you understand how to interpret the information found on a
college’s website about core courses at that college. The information below was taken from the website of
the University of Massachusetts (Amherst) at http://www.umass.edu/gened/forStudents/requirements2010Later.html.
Core Requirements:
An undergraduate at UMass is required to take at least 12 core
courses.
If I attend this school I will have to take two writing
courses, one math course, one analytic reasoning course, two courses
in Biology and Physical world (science), four courses in Social world,
and two courses in social and cultural diversity.
I will also have to take one Integrative Experience course.
