your 5th period teacher or Support
teacher by February 3 with your
signatures at the bottom of the
page!
English/Math/Science/Social
Studies/Foreign Language
Your current teachers in these areas will be making a
recommendation to you.
 You should select whatever you want to take on your
schedule sheet.
 If your choice and the teacher’s choice don’t match, when
you meet with the school counselor, this will be discussed.
 If you choose to take a lower level from what the teacher
recommended, the change will be made.
 If you choose to take a higher level from what the teacher
recommended, your parent must talk to your current
teacher in the subject area and you must turn in a form
with the signatures that you will get from your counselor.

Eligibility
1.5 GPA
 Passing 5 classes worth .5 credit or 1
credit. (Don’t include PE, weightlifting,
or support, or courses you are re-taking)
 Take an extra class to protect your
eligibility!!!! Leaving early sounds good
until you are ineligible!

Leaving Early: Grade 11/12
Seniors-may leave 1 or 2 periods earlymark on sheet-leave AFTER 5th OR
Leave AFTER 6th
 Juniors-may leave 1 period early-mark
on sheet-leave AFTER 6th

Study Hall
You may only have 1 study hall per
semester. You don’t have to have one.
 No credit for study hall
 Circle “Semester Study Hall” or “Year
Long Study Hall”

AP US HISTORY
11th grade- if not in Soc/Psych/Econ, have your
10th grade American Studies teacher sign the
schedule sheet if they approve.
 10th grade- may take AP US HISTORY in 11th
grade with recommendation of US History
teacher
 9th grade- May take AP US HISTORY with
recommendation of current World History
teacher.

Government/AP Government

ALL 11th graders MUST take either
Government or AP government

10th graders-for AP Gov, your US History
teachers needs to recommend you for it
Physical Education

Only regular Physical Education meets the
requirement for graduation (NOT weightlifting,
team sports, coaching)

If you are using the “PE Exemption” by playing 2
seasons of a sport/band/cheer, check “P.E.
Exemption” on your schedule sheet. You do not
have to take PE IF you participate in 2 seasons of
a sport/band/cheer.

Pick an extra elective to take the place of PE.
Health-need .5 credit

If you failed it and never retook it, or
were new to WMHS and never took it,
you MUST schedule it for NEXT year.

 Guide is located ONLINE on the WMHS
website on the Guidance page.
 Make sure you know what you’re signing up
for. Changes in most cases are not allowed
after June 1, 2016.

Yearbook
Pick up an application in guidance. Turn
in to Ms. Lively by January .
 Applicants will be selected based on
essay/recommendations.
 You will be notified if you have been
accepted or declined.


Glee.

Band
Students in marching band must sign up
for symphonic band (not color guard).
 Can be in symphonic band without being
in marching band.

Peer Collaboration-10-12


1 credit-Pass/Fail
Pick up an application in the guidance office-return to Mrs. Grezlik by
Feb. 5.

Assisting a student one-on-one during a specific class by taking notes,
keeping them on-task, helping during a lab, etc. Students placed in
specific classes are actively working with other students.

Supporting students with special needs during physical education or
work study classes

Modeling appropriate social skills for a student

Helping/supporting students who just need a little extra help in order to
learn and participate in class

Mentorship-Taught here at WMHS-grades 11-12-pick up

New/Returning Classes we hope to offer:
(pending minimum enrollment)

AP Environmental Science- 11-12-Bio/Chem or taking
Chemistry

College Prep Math- grade 12-intended for high school
seniors who have not been successful in traditional
high school math classes and are not prepared for
college-level math. An online course, it does NOT offer
college credit, but it does save students a significant
amount of tuition, which they would otherwise pay for
developmental math courses in college. It is possible to
complete up to 3 Columbus State courses (Dev 0115,
Math 1050, and Math 1075 ***these courses are
remedial math courses) during the school year.
New Classes:

Year-long classes
Pre-Engineering Technologies: Grades 9-12Teams design and test their ideas using modeling, automation, robotics, and
mechanical & computer control systems, while exploring energy and the
environment.

Machine Tools: grade 11-12
-Students will learn the
fundamental principles and practices of cutting, drilling, and grinding using modern
machine tools, hand tools, and precision measuring instruments.
College Credit Plus- earn college credit for free while still
in high school! Take classes here at WMHS!

from Mrs. Grezlik in the guidance office.
Alternative Elective Choices:
Pick 2-3 “back-up” classes in case we
can’t fill your first choice options that you
circled on the sheet.
 At the beginning of the school year, AND
at the new semester, schedule changes
are only made for specific reasons.
 CHOOSE your courses carefully! Look
at the Course Description Guide online!

Schedule Changes









1) ___A senior needs to make a change to meet graduation
requirements.
2) ___A teacher and student request a more appropriate
level of a subject for the student.
3) ___A technical error was made in the schedule.
4) ___The course has been completed in summer school.
5) ___Prolonged illness where an excessive absence makes
a normal load too heavy.
6) ___To balance classes. (Example: Two study halls 1st
semester and none 2nd)
7) ___An IEP plan necessitates the change.
8) ___Drop a study hall to add a class if space is available.
9) ___ Student wants removed from class with a grade of
WF (Withdraw Fail)
