Welcome to Our Class Rules and Procedures Run to the Roar Rules and Procedures • Enter class with a positive mind set for learning. • Be in your seat when the tardy bell rings. • Bring any and all texts, homework, and working materials with you. Run to the Roar Rules and Procedures • Treat others as you want to be treated. • Food and drink are not allowed in classrooms. • Gum is not allowed at school at any time. Run to the Roar Rules and Procedures • Behave in a manner conducive to learning for all. • Show respect for yourself and others at all times. • Follow all rules listed in your DMS Handbook and Madison City Schools Code of Conduct. Run to the Roar Rules and Procedures • Place everything you will need for class on your desk and be ready BEFORE the tardy bell rings. • Begin DOL as soon as the tardy bell rings. • Begin your silent reading as soon as you finish your DOL. Books can be kept in the appropriate container. Run to the Roar Rules and Procedures Place your backpack on the back or under your desk when you enter the room. Make sure you retrieve all of your supplies BEFORE you are seated. The aisles must remain clear. Run to the Roar Rules and Procedures • Place all assignments at the back of the room in the appropriate tray for your block. • 1st block Blue • 3rd block Green • 4th block Pink Run to the Roar Rules and Procedures • What do I do if I finish before everyone else? – Complete computer assignments – Work on projects – Read Run to the Roar Rules and Procedures • The first page of all papers is headed as follows in the upper right-hand corner: • First AND Last name • Date • Name of assignment and page numbers • Subsequent pages headed by your last name and page number (Smith 2, Fisher 3, etc.). Run to the Roar Rules and Procedures • An acceptable paper: • • • • has NOT been torn out of a spiral notebook. is written in blue or black ink. is neat and legible. is properly headed. • Papers without names will be placed in the tray at the back of the room. It is your responsibility to check the tray if you do not receive a paper. Run to the Roar Rules and Procedures • Late work is not accepted unless it is connected with an excused absence. • A total of 10 points will be subtracted per day the assignment is late. • Work missed for a school function is due the day you return to school. • Make-up work will be placed in the red organizer in the front of the room. • It is the responsibility of the student to pick-up missed work. • Make-up work remains in the folder for one week. • Make-up work must be placed in the teacher’s hands. Run to the Roar Rules and Procedures • When the class bell rings, remain in your seat and quiet until you are dismissed by the teacher. • Students will not be dismissed until the room is in order. • Late passes will not be given unless it is the fault of the teacher for your tardiness. If you are not following the rules, the teacher is not at fault. Run to the Roar Rules and Procedures • Students should come to class with the following supplies: – Language arts notebook – Pens (2 colors) – Paper – Pencil pouch with glue, scissors, and markers or colored pencils Run to the Roar Rules and Procudres • Classroom Library – Students are welcomed to use the classroom library. – Books must be signed-out by the student and signed-in by the teacher. – Returned books should be placed in the basket. – Do not place books back on the shelves. Run to the Roar Rules and Procedures • Textbooks – We only have a classroom set of textbooks. – Do not leave class with a textbook. – Copies of the textbook can be accessed online. – The links for textbooks can be found on MOODLE. Run to the Roar Rules and Procedures • Novels • This year we will be reading three novels in class. • You are not required to purchase these novels, but you may purchase your own copy. – Touching Spirit Bear (Aug.-Sept.) – The Watson’s Go to Birmingham (Feb.) – Stargirl (April) Run to the Roar
