English Faculty
2016
Faculty Organisation & Facilities
There are currently nine full time teachers in the English faculty, all of whom are well
qualified, supportive and professional. There are eight classrooms, all of which are
equipped with interactive whiteboards. The department is well-resourced and we take pride
in planning, sharing and developing new resources which challenge students of all abilities.
As a team, we develop independent learning and thinking opportunities whilst also ensuring
that our students are able to work collaboratively. We consider ourselves to be both an
innovative and creative team of teachers who are keen to try out new ideas and develop our
teaching practice. If you join our team then you will be working in a supportive group of
people who have high expectations of themselves and their students.
Teaching Groups
All students are set by ability in two half year bands. All classes in KS3 have 4 x 50 minute
lessons each and all classes at KS4 have 5 x 50 minute lessons each. In KS5 there are two
classes in Year 12 as well as Year 13.

Our ALPS rating for both AS and A2 is 3 (Very Good). ‘A’ Level is a growing area for the
Faculty and currently four members of staff teach at this level.
