This is a permanent position, although as a voluntary organisation every employee is advised that their employment continues only as long as The Haven
Wolverhampton remains able to fund it.
Job Purpose
To lead and maintain The Haven’s Public Relations Strategy whilst promoting a positive image and ensuring a clear message is conveyed to the public in all forms of communication.
To raise awareness of the work of The Haven Wolverhampton to the public, donors, funders, partners and stakeholders by event co-ordination, speaking directly to the public and using effective forms of media and communication to build and maintain the identity of The Haven Wolverhampton.
Support to Service Leads in the effective Marketing and Public Relations development of existing and new services.
To ensure Public Relations and Marketing materials are accessible in reaching women and children.
Scope of Job – main tasks, duties and responsibilities
To write, edit and distribute press releases and articles.
To develop, edit and distribute annual reports.
To maintain and update information on the organisation’s website and other social media.
To use corporate advertising to maintain the organisation’s identity, name and reputation.
To oversee the production of publicity brochures, handouts, direct mail leaflets, promotional videos, photographs and other publicity resources.
To respond to publicity and/or marketing related queries from individuals and

other organisations.
To manage and be the main point of contact for The Haven’s general email account.
Where appropriate, and as directed, to present The Haven in public as talks, presentations, meetings, seminars and conferences, including staff and volunteer inductions.
As directed, to be responsible for the production of events from start through to completion. Events can include: exhibitions and fairs, conferences, promotions and launches, fundraising and social events.
To develop and maintain good working relations with the media, including local and national newspapers, magazines, radio and television and to respond to enquiries from news agencies for interviews, statements, press releases or marketing materials.
To organise and be the key lead on special events, such as conferences, exhibitions, open days etc.
To work with and support Haven staff, as directed, on service specific events.
To network with local partners and stakeholders through events and through involvement in community initiatives.
To audit and maintain the general upkeep of Haven display boards and publicity materials.
To attend meetings as appropriate as requested by the manager.
To work closely with Haven service staff to develop effective Public Relations and
Marketing tools.
To research, review and evaluate Public Relations and Marketing tools on a regular basis in order to help develop future tools and help support future marketing decisions.
To distribute Haven literature to external individuals, organisations and stakeholders and implement distribution procedures.
To timely evaluate and gain feedback on campaigns/advertisements on a regular basis and ensure effective use of budgets.
To ensure the security and confidentiality of service users in Haven publicity material.
To develop and comply with copyright procedures in relation to Haven publicity materials.
To update, develop and comply with Haven Public Relations and Marketing procedures in relation to design, distribution, events, website and advertising.
To manage volunteers on publicity related tasks.
General duties and responsibilities
To undertake such other duties, training and/or hours of work as maybe reasonably required, and which are consistent with the general level of responsibility of this job.
To have personal responsibility for maintaining personal and professional development to meet the changing demands of the job and the Charity, by undertaking appropriate training and development activities. This includes encouraging and supporting staff and managers in their training and development.
To undertake any health and safety activities required for the post and as required by The Haven Wolverhampton to ensure their Health & Safety Policy is implemented effectively.
