Homework Policy

 copied daily into assignment pad

 can be viewed on class webpage, homework board

 is checked but not graded

 allows for independent practice of skills taught in school

 everyone starts with 100, each missing assignment is -3 points

 should take about an hour

Word Estimates

Read Alouds are selected based on the unit theme

Reading level of read alouds is often above the independent reading level

Vocabulary words are identified by the teacher ahead of time

Students practice reading the word and then estimate its meaning during the read aloud

Students look up the dictionary definition and part of speech AFTER reading is complete

Students learn to use the word in a meaningful sentence

Vocabulary is reviewed daily

Students will be assessed with a vocabulary test
