Some Geometrical Objects in Our Environment Solid Figures Some objects which we can see in our environment are called solid figures. You have probably seen objects that have these shapes. rectangular prism cube cylinder cone sphere pyramid You can think of real objects that have these shapes. For example, a tennis ball is a sphere. Rectangular prism - This box is a rectangular prism. - Each corner of the box is a vertex of the prism. - Each edge of the box is an edge of the prism. - Each side of the box is a face of the prism. 1. Rectangular prism Vertex Edge Face A rectangular prism has 8 vertices, 12 edges and 6 faces. 2. Cube Vertex Edge Face A cube has 8 vertices, 12 edges and 6 faces. 3.Sphere A sphere has no faces, edges or vertices. 4. Cylinder Face Edge A cylinder has 0 edges and 2 faces. 5.Cone Vertex Edge Face A cone has 1 faces, 1 vertex and 0 edge. 6. Pyramid Vertex Face Edge A pyramid has 5 faces, 5 vertices and 8 edges. Plane Figures Figures that lie on a flat surface is called the plane figures. Triangle Pentagon Rectangle Square Hexagon Circle Plane Figures Rectangular prism Rectangle Cube Square Sphere Circle Plane Figures Cylinder Pyramid Circle Triangle Solid Figure Number of Faces Number of Edges Number of Vertices Exercise - 1 Exercise - 2 Exercise - 3 Exercise - 4 Game Name Shapes Can you name triangle Good work! the circle square shapes? rectangle Press spacebar ( It is from the Bangkok Resources ) Resources The following URL is a starting place, feel free to search the Internet for other related information. http://www.math.com/school/subject3/lessons/S3U4L4GL.html Presented by : Daw Khin Ma Gyi(Senior Teacher) No(2) B.E.H.S Dagon Union of Myanmar
