Surface Area and Volume Review Centers By Kellie Johnston Objective: Given the review worksheet, or the objects, students will calculate Surface Area and Volume of 8 objects. When completing these centers, you can either use the worksheet, and add in your own dimensions, or compile the objects and have the students actually measure the dimensions. I like to use the objects, because the students understand where the measurements are coming from and know which is the height, length, width, diameter, etc… Formulas the students should know before completing this activity (or they can be given to the students) SA= the sum of areas of all the faces V = Area of Base ∙ Height Volume of a rectangular prism = l ∙ w ∙ h Volume of a triangular prism = 1 ∙b∙h∙H 2 Volume of a Cylinder = ∙ r2 ∙ h 1 ∙ r2 ∙ h 3 4 Volume of a Sphere = ∙ r3 3 Volume of a cone = 1 l∙w∙h 3 1 1 Volume of a triangular pyramid = ∙ ∙b ∙h∙H 3 2 Volume of a rectangular pyramid = Name: __________________________________________ Surface Area and Volume Task #1 Find the surface area and volume of a Happy Meal container.
