A location tells where something is.
Absolute location tells the exact spot where something is.
Your home has an absolute location.
Relative location tells where something is by comparing it to another thing.
McDonalds is next to Subway is a relative location.
A map helps you see the location of things.
Know the following:
--what a border is and what it looks like on a map (P. 11)
--that The United States of America is where we live and that it is a country
--that Indiana, Michigan, Kentucky, Ohio, and Illinois are states
--that countries are bigger than states
--that the Earth is largest location we can live on
Landforms
Lake—a body of water surrounded by land
Island—a piece of land surrounded by water
River—a stream of water that leads to an ocean
Many times bridges go over the top of rivers.
Valley—the land between two mountains
Mountains—giant hills
