Test:
IELTS
The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is the basic language
proficiency test. The test is is designed to assess the language ability of candidates who
want to study or work where English is the language of communication.
The formats of IELTS
There are two formats to choose from – Academic and General Training.
A. The Academic module is for candidates wishing to study at undergraduate or
postgraduate levels, and for those seeking professional registration.
B. The General Training module is for candidates wishing to migrate to an English
speaking country (Australia, Canada, New Zealand, UK), and for those wishing to train
or study at below degree level. Both modules cover all four language skills –listening,
reading, writing and speaking. Everyonetakes the same Listening and Speaking tests.
Thereare different Reading and Writing tests for theAcademic and General Training
modules.
The Listening, Reading and Writing tests must be completed on the same day. There
are no breaks between the three written tests. The Speaking test may be taken up to
seven days before or after theother three tests.
The Test Components
A. Listening : The test taker needs to answer approximately 40 questions in
approximately 30 minutes. However, as separate time is not given to the students to
answer the questions, they are required to write their answers in question paper itself.
Thus, they are given ten minutes time to transfer the answers from the question paper
to the answer sheet.
B. Reading : This section is perhaps the most difficult section in the IELTS. The section
contains three passages, each of which is
with approximately 12 – 14 questions. You are given 60 minutes time to answer the
forty questions. The difficulty faced by the students is primarily because of variety of
questions and the specific ways in which they are to be answered.
C. Writing : This section consists of two tasks. The Academic and General Training
variants of IELTS differ slightly here. for academic training students, the first task is
report-writing whereas for General training students, the first task is a letter writing task.
In both cases, the second task is a General Essay which is to be written basing on your
knowledge and experience. However, the topics in Academic Module are likely to be
academically oriented, but the General essay for General Training module are usually of
general interest.
D. Speaking : The speaking module of IELTS is a personal interview. A qualified and
trained examiner will interview you for 11-15 minutes time and allocates some score
basing on your performance. The first part of the speaking test is likely to be about
topics familiar to you and the later question are mostly analysis-based with a bent
towards abstract topics.

selected from the pool of topics. You are asked to critique the line of reasoning of an
argument given in a brief passage, clearly pointing out the arguments strengths and
weakness and supporting your position with reasons and examples.
The Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) is a standardized test that is an
admissions requirement for many graduate schools in the United States,[1] in other
English-speaking countries and for English-taught graduate and business programs
world-wide. Created and administered by Educational Testing Service (ETS) in 1949,[2]
the exam aims to measure verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, analytical writing
and critical thinking skills that have been acquired over a long period of time and that
are not related to any specific field of study. The GRE General Test is offered as a
computer-based, computer adaptive exam administered by selected qualified testing
centers; however, paper-based exams are offered in areas of the world where
computer-based testing is not available.
In Nepal, the computer-based GRE® revised General Test is offered and the cost is
$190.
The overall testing time for the computer-based GRE® revised General Test is about
three hours and 45 minutes. There are six sections with a 10-minute break following the

The Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) is a computer-adaptive
standardized test in mathematics and the English language for measuring aptitude to
succeed academically in graduate business studies. Business schools use the test as a
criterion for admission into graduate business administration programs (e.g. MBA,
Master of Accountancy, etc.) throughout the world.
The GMAT consists of three main parts—the Analytical Writing Assessment, the
Quantitative section, and the Verbal section. You have three and a half hours in which
to take the exam, but plan for a total time of approximately four hours. The fee to take

Unofficial scores from the Verbal and Quantitative multiple-choice sections, along with
the Total score, are available immediately after you complete the test. If you chose to
receive your Official Score Report online, you will generally receive an email within 20
calendar days of testing, with a link to access your Official Score Report online. After
clicking the link you must enter the authorization number from the Unofficial Score
Report to view the Official Score Report. You may view, download, or print your Official
Score Report, which includes the AWA score. If you opted to receive your Official Score
Report by mail, it will be sent to you approximately 20 calendar days after testing.Your
scores are good for five years, so you have the ability to start your graduate studies now
or down the road.
How does it work?
For each multiple-choice section of the GMAT exam, there is a large pool of potential
questions ranging from a low to high level of difficulty. Each section of the test starts
with a question of moderate difficulty. If you answer the first question correctly, the
computer will usually give you a harder question. If you answer the first question
incorrectly, your next question will be easier. This process will continue until you
complete the section, at which point the computer will have an accurate assessment of
your
ability
level
in
that
subject
area.
In a computer-adaptive test, only one question at a time is presented. Because the
computer scores each question before selecting the next one, you may not skip, return
to, or change your responses to previous questions.

Flexibility in the education system
Education System
U.S. colleges are known worldwide for the quality of their facilities, resources, and
faculty. One of the most distinctive features of U.S. universities and colleges is the
choice of courses within a single institution. More importantly, students can move
between one institution and another with relative ease. It is common to complete the
first two years of a degree at one institution, usually a community college and then
transfer to another to complete the degree.
The system comprises of 12 years of primary and high school education, which is
mandatory for getting admission in any graduate college, university, or for any
professional and technical schools. It is not compulsory to accomplish these 12 years of
elementary education within United States. Therefore students from overseas are also
welcomed for higher education in United States.
U.S. higher education starts with undergraduate courses. You can earn either a twoyear associate's degree or a four-year bachelor’s degree. Students often earn an
associate's degree first, and then study two more years to gain a bachelor’s (or
baccalaureate) degree. Usually, a bachelor’s degree will be awarded by a university,
whereas an associate's degree may be earned either at a community college or
university.
Undergraduate degrees (and some master’s degrees) are awarded after a student
completes a pre-determined number of courses. A student is awarded credits for the
courses he or she takes, and the degree is complete when the student completes the
required number of credits. This means that although most students complete
bachelor’s degrees in four years, some spend longer if they take part-time classes or
take time off from school. .
Graduate degrees, often known as master’s degrees, require at least two years at a
university. These are often termed “advanced professional degrees,” as they tend to be
aimed at specific professions. Graduate degrees are career-advancing degrees in
subjects such as medicine, law, and management. For example, a Master’s in Business
Administration (MBA) is the standard business graduate degree. Doctorates (PhDs)
usually take four years to complete, and are research-based.

STUDY IN NEWZEALAND
New Zealand (Aotearoa in Māori) is an island country in the south-western
Pacific Ocean comprising two main landmasses (the North Island and the
South Island) and numerous smaller islands. The country is situated some
1,500 kilometres (900 mi) east of Australia across the Tasman Sea, and
roughly 1,000 kilometres (600 mi) south of the Pacific island nations of New
Caledonia, Fiji, and Tonga.
Education System in the New Zealand
Education in New Zealand follows the three-tier model which includes
primary schools, followed by secondary schools (high schools) and tertiary
education at universities and/or polytechs. The Programme for International
Student Assessment ranks New Zealand’s education as the 7th best in the
world. The Education Index, published with the UN’s Human Development
Index in 2008, based on data from 2006, lists New Zealand as 0.993,
amongst the highest in the world, tied for first with Denmark, Finland and
Australia.
Education is free and compulsory between the ages of 6 and 16, although
in very special cases an exemption can be gained after applying to the
MOE. These may be granted to students who are close to 16, have been
experiencing some ongoing difficulty at school and have a job already lined
up. Families wishing to home educate their children can apply for
exemption. To get an exemption from enrollment at a registered school,
they must satisfy the Secretary of Education that their child will be taught
“as regularly and as well as in a registered school”. Children almost always
start school on their 5th birthday, or the first School Day after it. Postcompulsory education is regulated within the New Zealand National
Qualifications Framework, a unified system of national qualifications in
schools, vocational education and training. The academic year in New
Zealand varies between institutions, but generally runs from late January
until mid-December for primary and secondary schools and polytechnics,
and from late February until mid-November for universities.

Study in Japan:
Introduction:
Japan is a country with rich nature, diverse topography, and beautiful turns of the
seasons. Modern Japanese culture and society consist of a diverse mix of the old and
new, the East and West, and the natural and artificial. These seemingly contradictory
elements coexist in harmony in Japan. For example, it is not unusual to see an old
Buddhist temple and a modern skyscraper standing next to each other.
The greatest appeal of studying in Japan is its academic environment where one can
study state-of-the-art technology and acquire the knowledge that enabled Japan’s
phenomenal postwar economic growth. Japanese universities and other institutes of
higher education can offer course studies or research programs of virtually any field.
Many institutions of higher education, such as universities and junior colleges, are well
equipped with fine research, computer, and library facilities and enable students to carry
out their research in an excellent environment.
Education System
Education is taken seriously in Japan, and the education system is in fact credited as a
major factor in Japan’s recovery after World War II.
All Japanese must attend elementary and lower-secondary (middle school) levels; most
choose public schools at these levels. While they aren’t compelled to, almost all
students progress to the upper-secondary (high school) level, which is voluntary; at this
level, private schools become a more popular option (as they do at the post-secondary
level as well).
Students can enroll in one of five types of institutions of higher learning: universities
(undergraduate courses), graduate schools, junior colleges, special training colleges
(post-secondary courses), and colleges of technology.
There are about 765 universities in Japan, including national, public, and private ones.
The best/popular national institutions are famously tough to get into. Applying for them
entails two exams: a standard exam given by the National Center for University
Entrance examinations and the university-specific exam administered by each school.
Many students who do not get into the university of their choice wait till the following
year to try again with the exams.
Recent years have also seen the ascendance of private educational institutes, many of
which now rival national universities in prestige and popularity.
Process
The general case of studying in Japan begins with a student first enrolling for a
Japanese Language course for at least six months in Nepal. Once this course is
completed successfully the student gets an admission into a school or college in Japan
where they need to study Japanese Language for another one or two year depending
on their proficiency level in Japanese Language.
