Fishamble: The New Play Company - Theatre Residency

The Source Arts Centre is committed to creating an arts infrastructure which supports and mentors
professional and amateur artists working in the locality. Fishamble: The New Play Company is
dedicated to supporting new and developing writers, directors and producers from the very beginning
of their literary careers. The Source has invited Fishamble to Thurles for three days of immersion in
theatre performance, directing and playwriting.
Directing New Plays
A workshop with Jim Culleton, Artistic Director of Fishamble
Fri 11 April, 2-6pm, €30/€25 early bird (until 31 January)
A hands on text based half day workshop in directing. Suitable for beginners and experienced
directors in professional and amateur work. Please note Pat Kinevane’s Silent and Forgotten will be
the featured plays in this workshop. Twelve places - first come, first served. Please contact The

Playwriting Workshop
A 2-day playwriting course with Gavin Kostick, Literary Manager at Fishamble
Sat 12 & Sun 13 April, 10am – 5pm, €90/€80 early bird (until 31 January)
Each course participant is immersed in a range of ideas and exercises designed to develop useful
skills in writing for live performance. These include: Openings, The Playwright’s Imagination, Plotting,
Alternative Structures, Characterisation, the Rhythms of Language and Dialogue. Suitable for
beginners and experienced directors in professional and amateur work. Twelve places - first come,

Play Development Masterclass
with Gavin Kostick, Literary Manager at Fishamble
Sat 12 April, 6-9pm, €60
This is a session on how to best develop your script towards production. It is aimed at emerging
playwrights who have had at least one stage play produced. Six places only - selection process

Pat Kinevane (playwright & actor) makes a welcome return to The Source in Fishamble's production
of Silent and Forgotten on 11 and 12 April 2014. He will participate in a post-show discussion with
Director Jim Culleton after the performance of Forgotten on Friday 11 April. The panel will include a
representative from an organisation with care for the elderly at its heart.
