Project Work Tracking System
Synopsis:
This project is about to automate the status tracking of various projects dealt by
Enterprise software Solutions. This system typically enables the top level management to
keep track of the status of the projects under their control. Some of the critical activities that
can be performed with this system are monitoring the completion status of project
documents, to alert PL’s indicating the documents completion dates.
PL allocates projects
to TL, PL of a particular client with project code, project name and start date of the particular
project. The system keeps tracks of the documents that have to be completed with in a
particular duration. Mail system is implemented in this project which enables effective
communication between PL,TL and TM. PL can upload documents to Team members and
respective TM can view, download and delete the same upto his needs. PL can update ,
delete the projects to his needs and he can release workers from the project once if it is
finished. The system helps the PL, TL, TM to view the status of the project and helps in
tracking information about the project.
1. SYSTEM ANALYSIS
2.1 Feasibility Study
In the feasibility study phase, the feasibility of the project is analyzed, and
a proper solution is put forth, with a very general plan for the project and some cost estimates,
for feasibility analysis is operational technical and economical.
Operational feasibility
Operational feasibility is looked at in view of solution fitting in with current operations,
this test of feasibility asks, whether the system will work when developed and installed?
Is their sufficient support for the project from the management?
Are current business methods acceptable to the users?
How will the solution affect the end users works environment?
Will it produce any poor result in any respect?
This project has sufficient support from the management. The end user’s work
environment is equipped with this software. They are ready to accept this software hence it is
behaviorally feasible, since the project can be handled easily.
Technical feasibility
Technical feasibility analyses whether the required technology and manpower is available
or not, this test of feasibility asks.
Is the technology needed for the proposed system available?
Can the system be expanded and developed?
Are their guarantees of accuracy, reliability, ease of access and data security?
The technology and the man power for the proposed system is available hence it is
technically feasible.
Economic feasibility
The software being made should definitely yield benefits, greater than the Cost of
expenditure in creating the software, the software as for its objective is concerned, will certainly
yield better fruits, as it is designed for the purpose of Managing money and other inputs and
output of the system. Also the system Greatly reduces the time factor it also reduces the
maintenance cost of the records significantly.
2.4 PROPOSED SYSTEM
This system is used to track the project status .The main thing used in the project
is the mail system. These status and reports can easily shared between the Project Leader, Team
Leader and Project Leader. The System is maintained by J2EE technology. The datas are stored
in database automatically.
2.5 ADVANTAGES OF PROPOSED SYSTEM

Documents can be distributed to the particular client easily.

Security can be given, so that the users only view the status.

Report generation is made easier.

Effective Mailing system enables reliability.

It takes less processing time.

The process involves full fetched scalability.

Data retrieval is faster by using J2EE technology.
FEASIBILITY STUDY
2.1 FEASIBILITY STUDY
During the feasibility study, the feasibility of the project – the likelihood of the proposed
system is analyzed.
The feasibility study was carried out on the overall integrated package. Three key
consideration in involved in the feasibility analysis are Operational, Technical and Economical.
Operational Feasibility
The main objective here is to find out whether
 The system will work once it is developed and installed.
 There is sufficient support for the project from the management.
 The current business methods are acceptable to the users.
An investigation is conducted and as a result the following conclusions are derived.
 There is sufficient support form the managerial level
 The current methods are done manually and takes lot of time.
 The persons involved in the current working system are met and
discussions are held with them to evolve a system with which they have
good participations and interest.
Technical feasibility
Technological feasibility analyses the following areas.
 Technology and manpower is available are not.
 Capacity to hold the data that is required to use the new system.
 Provision to respond to users regardless of their number and location.
 Provision for further expansion.
 Guarantee of accuracy, reliability, ease of access and data security.
An investigation is conducted and as a result the following conclusions are derived.
 The necessary technology to implement the proposed system is available in
the organization.
 Main hardware equipment such as computers with the required Capacities
is also available.
Hence the system is technically feasible.
Economical Feasibility
Issues to be considered in the economical feasibility are
 Financial benefits must equal or exceed the costs.
 The solution should be cost effective.
 Must be worth to pursue the project.
2.2 EXISTING SYSTEM
In the existing system Employee can update their report manually in every time.
In this project the Team member can report their detail every time manually to Team Leader .
Team Leader view their detail and update their details to the Project Leader manually. PL used
the XL sheet to update manually. The project leader updates whole modules in to single project
manually in every time. This is done by the every time daily report.
2.3 DRAWBACKS OF EXISTING SYSTEM

The Maintenance of datas in MS-EXCEL.

All reports are done manually.

Various calculations are done manually.
It results in long processing time.
2.4 PROPOSED SYSTEM
This system is used to automate the status report .The mainly used in the project
Team member update their details daily. These reports can easily view by the Project Leader,
Team Leader .The System is maintained by J2EE technology. The datas are stored in database
automatically.
2.5 ADVANTAGES OF PROPOSED SYSTEM

Documents can be distributed to the particular client easily.

Security can be given, so that the users only view the status.

Report generation is made easier.

It takes less processing time.

The process involves full fetched scalability.

And data retrieval is faster by using J2EE technology.
