New Idea of Online Booking System for Flora Expo
Taipei International Flora Exposition opened on November 6, 2010 and closed on April 25,
2011. The FIora Exposition exposed the exhibition about 6 months, nevertheless, we heard a
lot of negative views from the Expo. One piece is that many people go to the flora exposition
4 or 5 a.m. and they usually wait for a ticket for three hours or more. In spite of this, a lot of
people still cannot to get into some pavilions because they did not go there earlier enough. We
think it wastes a lot of time for those who queued up and waited outside the pavilions for
three hours. However, they have no choice if they really want to watch those flowers and
exhibition. This situation not only occurs in Flora Exposition, but also other large exhibition.
That is why our group decides to choose the topic of finding the ways to reduce the time for
queuing for a ticket.
In order to solve this problem, we imitate our Online Course Enrollment system and take
these methods below:
1. Some pavilions, such as Pavilion of Dreams, EXPO Theater, Celebrity's House, Taipei
Story House, Pavilion of Regimen, are so popular that most of the visitors want to visit
them. Therefore, the reservation of tickets should be built online, so the people who want
to visit popular pavilions can book the reservation tickets on the internet instead of
queuing from morning till night, wasting so much time on lining.
2. Since there are so much people want to get a ticket, the system should select randomly
every day or every two days. And it gives people higher priority next day according to
who book earlier and more frequent.
For example, Person A booked a ticket on 2011.4.20 while Person B booked a ticket
on2011.4.21, then A has a higher priority than B. By the same way, if A books a ticket
every day in a week whereas B books a ticket just twice a week, and both of them failed
to get a ticket, then A has a higher priority to get a ticket than B in next week’s booking.
3. When people book a ticket, they must input their identification numbers and other private
information. Therefore, we can ensure that a person can only book a ticket and others
cannot counterfeit to get the ticket.
4. If those who receive tickets do not enter the pavilion on time, system will cancel their
reservation and then block them from reservation system for a period to prevent people
from booking tickets casually.
5. However, we must reserve some tickets at the box office for visitors who cannot access
the internet. Otherwise, those who have no computers would be unable to visit the Flora
Expo.
