Level I Scavenger Hunt: EHR Orientation Faculty Instructions and Answer Key The chart for this initial student activity has already been placed in your EHR for you. Have the students access the chart ORIENTATION,MYLES LANE0002 (0721). The activity you will give to your students has identified this patient and is a separate document titled: Neehr Perfect EHR Level 1 Scavenger Hunt – EHR Orientation. Faculty instructions 1. Review the Orientation Activity document prior to assigning it to students. 2. Build the required chart in your EHR (see Section C below) or request Neehr Perfect to add it. We suggest making a “Master” copy in your school’s Secured division for safe keeping and future use. Then make a copy into your school’s Common division for student use. Insert the name of the created chart copy into the Orientation Activity document. 3. Complete the activity yourself prior to assigning it to students. Skip the step where the answers are submitted via a note. 4. Assign the activity to your students by distributing the activity document to them. They will submit their answers to you within the EHR (see Section A below). Reference the Answer Key (see Section B below). Section A: Receiving students’ answers To assign this activity, distribute the Scavenger Hunt activity document to the students. This can be sent via email, through your learning management system, or printed and distributed in class. Students will complete the questions on the Orientation Activity document while referencing the specific chart in the EHR. Near the end of the activity, the students are instructed to submit their answers to their instructor (cosigner) as a note in the patient chart. After each student completes his or her note with the answers, you will receive a notification. Select Process All to review all of the notifications/notes. You will be brought directly to the completed note in the chart that was assigned. The note will list the Author – this is the student who completed the work. Right-click on the body of the note and choose Edit Progress Note. You may now add text to the existing note – you may want to do so in ALL CAPS or use a symbol (*****) to make your text stand-out from the student’s work (it is not possible to change the font color or highlight).
