Job Title ESTIMATOR / SURVEYOR- FLAT ROOFING Location Thames Valley Branch (Based at Beenham, Berkshire) 1 Main Functions of the Estimator/Surveyor The main role of the Estimator is to produce accurate high quality quotations from drawings and bills of quantity type customer enquiries. The Estimator will follow Company estimating procedures and systems and assist with the organisation of daily duties in order to achieve maximum output. The Estimator will contribute to the success of securing orders by following up customer quotations, preparing pre-order qualification documents and any final analysis pre-order stage negotiations. In addition the Estimator will contribute towards the day-to-day tasks and requirements of the Flat roofing Estimating department, in addition to the above the Estimator/Surveyor will assist the Contracts Managers in preparing Valuations when necessary and making site visits to prepare Final Accounts 2 Significant Internal and External Relationships Internal Estimators Estimating Manager Commercial Manager Regional Contracts Directors Contracts Managers Contracts Administration Customer Development Coordinator Operations Director External Customers Clients Architects Surveyors 3. List of Activities Log and record new enquiry details on the Company Tender Monitor and Weekly Estimating Register Maintain and update enquiry/quotation information on the Company Tender Monitor and Weekly Register Assist with daily organisation and monitoring of enquiries to ensure customer return dates are met Process and price enquiries accurately from drawings and /or bills of quantity, formulating spreadsheets and completing customer schedules using the Company MCS estimating system Utilise the Company take off software to reduce drawing take-off time and increase quotation output Provide technical advice to customers Provide customers with quality quotations meeting their requirements through high standards of estimating and technical expertise Provide Regional Contracts Director (RCD) and Contract Managers with copy of quotations and labour/material working sheets and support the contracting teams throughout the estimating processes and contract negotiation stages Monitor progress on submitted quotations and liaise with the RCD, Estimating Manager and contracts management team to maximise acceptance levels Completion of customer pre contract qualification questionnaire sheets Assist in the marketing functions of the Company by contacting and maintaining good working relationships with customers Upon receipt of customer order, provide the Company Commercial Department with fully documented quotation details including any correspondence Provide contracts teams with accurately prepared working sheet information for the production of material orders Support other estimators to ensure functionality is maintained and output is kept to maximum levels In the absence of the RCD or Estimating Manager, resolve any operational issues Maintain technical and product knowledge in-line with legislation and industry updates Keep up to date with Company policy and ensure diligent application at all times Comply with the Company Quality Management System 4 Nature and Scope Working in conjunction with the Estimator based at the Beenham office, the candidate is responsible for completing the day-to-day duties of a normal working Estimator. In addition, the Estimator/Surveyor will follow the supervisory instructions of the Regional Contracts Director (South West). In conjunction with the Regional Contracts Directors, and Contracts Managers, Estimators provide a front-line point of contact for customers both in terms of dealing with the generation of and processing of new tender enquiries along with following up submitted quotations for conversion to order. Key skills for this role are a high standard of technical and product knowledge, attention to detail and accuracy. The ability to produce formal documents to a high standard is fundamental to the role. The role requires a well organised, flexible individual with strong attention to detail, up to date technical and product knowledge to a detailed level. The successful individual must be able to work in a structured manner to tight deadlines and on their own initiative.
