CASE STUDIES-GBL
Background:
GBL contains numerous labs in their facility
reserved specifically for software development.
In two particular labs and the main conference
room, GBL was given the task of integrating an
AV distribution system for their PC’s and
displays.
Chris Kremer from GBL, head of this
integration, needed the system to distribute
quality and reliable audio and video signals!
With two labs consisting of 10 PC’s each, a
main conference room, and with future
expansion plans up to 16 PC’s, a very complex
system needed to be integrated.

CASE STUDIES-GBL
Atlona’s AT-HDV81, AT-HD-IR40SR, AND THE AT-HD88M-SR,
are the 3 main units allowing this application to do the
necessary functions at a high quality and reliable manor.
CASE STUDIES-TESCO
Tesco Stores CR has been established in
both the Czech and Slovak market since
1996. with a total of 226 shops, 32 petrol
stations and six commercial centers. Since
the middle of 2010, Tesco Stores have
decided to renovate a number of their
stores.
Atlona products instantly replaced all
previously used solutions for HDMI signal
distribution that had proved to be less
reliable in the 19 Tesco stores. For Tesco, it
was important to ensure customer
satisfaction and ease of purchase while
never skipping a beat during
reconstruction.
CASE STUDIES-TESCO
Problem:
Tesco wanted their customers to
see an updated model of the store
as well as the equipment. Tesco
Company felt it necessary to
address and update a number of
the stores with new, specific
requirements for distribution of
HDMI signal. This would obviously
help in regards to sending high and
flawless signal from the DVD
sources to up to 50 HD displays, in
order to see changes immediately
with up to date technological
equipment.

any input at anytime independently. This
means that each display can view

Definition: Extended Display
Identification Data (EDID)
• A small file that is transferred
between a Display and a Source.
• Originally designed to talk from a
Monitor to Computer
• Tells the source what kind of
HDMI
capabilities the display connected
carries (manufacturer name,
product type, timings supported,
ETC)
I’m an Set-top box.

Signs of EDID Issues

Allows your HDMI source to boot directly
from AT-HDSync.
Generates a missing Hot Plug, which
sometimes is missing in an AV System,
resulting in errors since the HDCP/EDID

HDCP/EDID handshake errors can occur
when source is missing Hot Plug, HDSync is
designed to stay inline to maintain Hot
Plug at all times.
AT-HDSync tutorial
Read the EDID manually from a HDMI
monitor or projector
• 1. Connect the HDMI display device to the
AT-HDSync via the DISPLAY port.
• 2. Plug in the 5V DC power supply unit.
• 3. Set AT-HDSync to MODE 6.
• 4. The EDID reading sequence is done when
the green LED lights off.
• 5. Switch the rotary switch back to MODE 04 based on your system setting.
• NOTE: DO NOT let the rotary arrow pass by
Mode 5 which will erase the EDID just
learned and restore the default EDID

HDMI ESSENTIAL TIPS

HDMI Essential Tips
The signal driving capability of
sources, especially in Blu-ray
players, can greatly vary from
model to model. Know the limits

and install.

HDMI Essential Tips
Not all HDMI inputs of a display
are created equal. HDMI input
#1 usually is backed by the best
electronics. With the same
source and the same 50 foot
cable, you could conceivably get
a picture on HDMI input #1 of a
display and not on HDMI input
#3

HDMI Essential Tips
Other than sources and displays,
all devices used should provide
re-clocking and equalization of
HDMI signal.

If you need to employ range
extenders, be careful of range
extenders that rely solely on the
HDMI source for power.
