The organization must upgrade to ensure that proper connectivity of all machines is maintained and additional wireless access will be added. The main challenge of this project will be maintaining data integrity and security. The desired outcome of this project is to establish a robust network that will meet or exceed the needs of the office. Measurable Organizational Value (MOV) The value that this project adds to the company will be measured by the ability of the office staff to complete and e-file tax returns more quickly due to the increased connection speed of the network. Project Scope Each workstation will be upgraded to a new Windows 7 Professional Edition machine with a core i5 processor and 4GB of memory and 500GB HDD (3). The server will be a new Windows Server OS with a core i7 processor and 16GB of memory and two 2TB HDD set up in a RAID 1 array. The router to be installed will be a CISCO RV220W to provide both Ethernet and wireless. The router also has a built in firewall to protect the network from intrusion. APC Smart UPS connected to the server in case of power outage. Assumptions and Risks Assumptions used to develop estimates o Staff will be able to complete each milestone within the allotted time frame o No need to keep old equipment Key risks, probability of occurrence, and impact o Unforeseen complications during project development causing delays Constraints o Work on this project cannot negatively impact the daily functions of the organization. (IT staff and other employees) Dependencies on other projects or areas within or outside the organization o The staff implementing this project must work closely with office staff to ensure all relative software for day to day operations is installed on new network. Assessment project’s impact on the organization o When completed and fully operational, the new network should increase the productivity of the office staff. Scope management plan o Completing the task while maintain normal operations is the strategy within the plan. Quality management plan o The quality management plan will ensure that all agreed upon standards set forth in the planning stage are met. The plan will also ensure that all work processes perform efficiently and as documented. Implementation and project closure plan o After extensive testing the system will be implemented into everyday use within the organization. Monthly maintenance will still be required.
