What is the plot of WARRIORS?

For this question I am describing part of the first 2 series!!!!!!

Series 1 (Into the Wild [Book 1]): The first series starts with a battle between 2 Clans,

ThunderClan and RiverClan, over the Sunning Rocks. ThunderClan was defeated, while the

ThunderClan medicine cat, Spottedleaf, and the leader, Bluestar, talking about the defeat

StarClan sent a prophecy in the form of a shooting star. The prophecy said “Fire alone can save our Clan”, none of the two cats knew exactly what that meant, although Bluestar thought a

REAL fire was going to destroy the camp. Then one day a house cat with a flame-colored pelt named Rusty wandered away from home to explore the forest, only to be attacked by Greypaw, a ThunderClan apprentice who tells Rusty a little bit about the Clans, as they are unaware that

Bluestar and Greypaw’s mentor, Lionheart, are watching them. Then Bluestar and Lionheart offer Rusty a chance to join ThunderClan and train as an apprentice and gives him a day to think about it. Rusty’s friend, Smudge, told Rusty to say no, but Rusty insisted on joining anyways. The next day Lionheart and another cat named Whitestorm meet Rusty and traveled to the ThunderClan camp. Before becoming an apprentice, a young warrior named Longtail taunts Rusty, saying that Rusty will only become a threat to the Clan because of Rusty’s collar, the stench of Twolegs (another word for humans), and the fact that Rusty lived a soft life. So

Rusty, encouraged by Lionheart to prove his loyalty to ThunderClan, fights Longtail ending the fight with Longtail snapping Rusty’s collar, leaving Rusty victorious. Bluestar takes the broken collar as an omen that Rusty should be in ThunderClan and makes Rusty an apprentice named

Firepaw (although no mentor was given, so Firepaw trains with Greypaw and Ravenpaw).

Shortly after becoming and apprentice a young apprentice named Ravenpaw, who is bleeding heavily tells his Clan that the deputy, Redtail, is dead, leaving the world and joining StarClan while fighting RiverClan over the Sunning rocks again. Then Ravenpaw’s mentor, Tigerclaw, tells the Clan that RiverClan deputy, Oakheart, killed Redtail and then Tigerclaw avenges

Redtail by killing Oakheart. In replacement the new deputy is Lionheart At first, many cats including Longtail, Dustpaw (Darkstripe’s apprentice), Sandpaw (Whitestorm’s apprentice), and

Darkstripe give Firepaw a hard time, but while training Firepaw becomes a well respected Clan member and hopes to become a good warrior. On his first solo hunting mission Firepaw is attacked by Yellowfang, the former medicine cat of ShadowClan, out of pity Firepaw does not kill Yellowfang and breaks the Warrior Code by sharing a rabbit with the old, starving she-cat, but was caught by Tigerclaw, Darkstripe, Willowpelt, Greypaw, and Bluestar.

What is the plot of WARRIORS? Con.

• They take Yellowfang prisoner and punished Firepaw by making him as Yellowfang’s care-taker as well as Bluestar’s apprentice. Many ThunderClan cats disapprove of Yellowfang being prisoner, because ShadowClan leader, Brokenstar, said a ShadowClan has been killing

ShadowClan kits lately and everyone thinks that Yellowfang is that cat. One night Firepaw became suspicious of Tigerclaw when Ravenpaw told Firepaw that during the battle when

Redtail died that it was Tigerclaw, not Oakheart, who killed Redtail, most likely so he could become deputy. Tigerclaw then, decides to make sure that no cats could trust Ravenpaw at all.

To protect his friend, Firepaw takes Ravenpaw to a new home with a loner named Barley, who lives in a barn outside of WindClan territory. When Firepaw comes back he tells his Clan that

Ravenpaw was killed by a ShadowClan patrol. Shortly afterwards ShadowClan attacks

ThunderClan to steal Frostfur’s kits (Brightkit, Cinderkit, Brakenkit, and Thornkit) the

ShadowClan attack patrol killed Spottedleaf and Lionheart (leaving Tigerclaw as deputy).

Tigerclaw blames Yellowfang for the disappearance of the kits and the death of Spottedleaf, because she was taken into the Clan as a ShadowClan prisoner. Yellowfang is also not present when the kits are discovered missing, therefore making Tigerclaw and the rest of the Clan even more suspicious of her. Bluestar intervenes and says that there is no proof that Yellowfang is at fault and refuses to blame her for it without proof. Tigerclaw also makes an assertion that

Ravenpaw helped Yellowfang steal the kits. Firepaw and Greypaw, who are dead set on proving that Yellowfang is innocent and saving the missing kits, goes out in the rain to find

Yellowfang and save Brightkit, Cinderkit, Brakenkit, and Thornkit. When they found Yellowfang a patrol that contains Whitestorm, Darkstripe, Mousefur, Willowpelt, and Runningwind decide to help the 2 apprentices and elderly medicine cat. Yellowfang brings some ShadowClan cats who are against Brokenstar (Nightpelt, Ashfur, and Dawncloud) to help save the missing kits and drive out the real kit-killer, Brokenstar, who chooses to train kits to early (which Brokenstar trains himself and kills them while training). During the battle Brokenstar reveals that he killed the previous leader (who was his father), Raggedstar, in order to become leader. At the end of the battle Brokenstar, Blackfoot, Clawface, Boulder, and Russetfur). When the ThunderClan cats and Yellowfang come home Yellowfang becomes the new medicine cat and Firepaw and

Greypaw become warriors named Fireheart and Greystripe.

Spoiler ahead! (I need it): Fireheart and Tigerclaw do become leaders (Tigerstar was also killed by BloodClan leader, Scrouge).

What is the plot of WARRIORS? Con.

Series 2 (Midnight [Book 1]): 4 new cats are given the same prophecy in a dream, those cats are Brambleclaw (ThunderClan), Tawnypelt (ShadowClan), Feathertail (RiverClan), and

Crowpaw (WindClan), the prophecy said to them "Darkness, Air, Water and Sky will come together and shake the forest to its roots. Nothing will be as it is now, nor as it has been before.“ also in these dreams a starry ancestor told them that they have to hear what midnight has to say. The 4 cats meet at a Gathering and learn about each other's dreams, but do not know where to search for midnight. However, after Brambleclaw has a dream about drowning in salty water, and Ravenpaw tells him that the place in his dream is actually a real one and that is called the sun-drown-place, and Brambleclaw decides to look for midnight there. While Leafpaw

(daughter of Firestar and sister of Squirrelpaw) and her mentor Cinderpelt are searching for herbs, StarClan sends Cinderpelt a vision of a tiger leaping forward from fire, and she concludes that the warning must mean that Squirrelpaw and Brambleclaw, the daughter of

Firestar and the son of Tigerstar, will represent a danger to the forest, or to each other.

Brambleclaw and Squirrelpaw (who persuaded Brambleclaw to let her come) meet with

Feathertail, Stormfur (Feathertail’s brother), Tawnypelt, and Crowpaw at Fourtrees, and the cats begin their journey to the sun-drown-place. Only Leafpaw, Squirrelpaw's sister knows about the mission StarClan gave to the cats, but does not tell about it to any other cat.

Meanwhile, the six cats continue their journey, passing Highstones, then traveling through farmland. They get separated after crossing a Thunderpath, ending up in gardens of different

Twoleg Nests. Eventually, they find each other, and escape from some kittypets that are about to attack them. When they are chased by a dog, they are rescued by an old loner who introduces himself as Purdy and later leads them into a large Twolegplace. They continue through the Twolegplace, with Purdy guiding them, and are attacked by rats while passing by a dump. They manage to defeat the rats, but Tawnypelt gets an infected bite on her shoulder and limps painfully for the rest of the journey. Eventually, they reach the sun-drown-place and enter a cavern inhabited by a highly intelligent badger named Midnight. She eventually reveals that all

Clans are in danger, as the forest is about to be completely destroyed by Twolegs to construct a new Thunderpath, and there is no way to stop it. The six cats must lead the Clans to find a new home.

Sorry! Spoiler ahead! (Kind of need this spoiler to continue)

By the end of Dawn (book 3) the Clans found a new home (by the Lake)!

What is a Clan?

• A Clan is a large group of cats that fight, hunt, and help take care of each other (like a big family) (not all cats are related to each other).

• Each Clan has the same hierarchy.

• Each Clan has it’s territory that has prey and land suited for that Clan.

• Each Clan has it own skill that is practiced.

What are the Clans?

• ThunderClan

– Most of the main characters (Firestar, Brambleclaw, Jayfeather,

Lionblaze, Hollyleaf, Dovewing, and Ivypool) are from ThunderClan.

– The founder of ThunderClan was a cat named Thunder. He was an orange cat with big white paws.

– ThunderClan preys on mice, squirrels, birds, and other small forest animals.

– ThunderClan is a kind and courageous Clan.

– Forest Territory includes: The Camp (It lies at the foot of a sandy ravine, protected by thorn bushes. The camp is easy to defend and hard to attack), Sunningrocks (rocks that absorb the sunshine and are a place of relaxation), and the Sandy Hollow (a hollow filled with soft sand that apprentices can train in and not get hurt).

– Lake Territory includes: The Camp (a hollow mad of rock that cut into the ground and surrounded by thorn bushes) and the abandoned Twoleg nest (an old house that is an excellent source of Catnip and mice).

– Firestar is the current leader, the deputy is Brambleclaw, and the medicine cat is Jayfeather.

What are the Clans? Con.

• ShadowClan

– The founder of ShadowClan was found by a black cat named Shadow.

– They have always seemed to be the "darker" Clan, with fierce, more disagreeable warriors. This dark reputation has been earned over the years by an unfortunate run of corrupted leaders, twisted minds, and bitter plots.

– They are proud, loyal, defensive, and are portrayed by the other Clans as battle-hungry, aggressive, ambitious, and greedy for more territory.

– They prey on frogs, lizards, snakes, and sometimes rats.

– Forest territory includes: The Camp (a well-concealed hollow that is wellhidden and that surrounded by prickly and fierce brambles) and

Carrionplace ( a very evil and deadly place where rats and diseases lurk).

– Lake territory includes: The Camp (not very much is known, but it is hidden).

– The current leader is Blackstar, deputy is Rowanclaw, and the medicine cat is Littlecloud.

• RiverClan

What are the Clans? Con.

– The founding leader of RiverClan is River, a silver-gray cat with green eyes.

– RiverClan cats are known for their amazing skill at fishing and love for water. They also love beautiful things, and are known to collect rocks, shells, and feathers to decorate their dens.

– They are known to be clever and graceful but are perceived outside their Clan as being stubborn and lazy.

– They eat mainly fish, but do eat water voles, shrews, and mice.

– Forest territory includes: The Camp (A well-drained island surrounded by the river and reeds) and the River (a source of protection and food).

– Lake territory includes: The Camp (a well tucked away on a piece of land surrounded by two streams, making it well-defended) and the Halfbridge (a peculiar bridge that ends halfway in the water).

– The current leader is Mistystar, the deputy is Reedwhisker, and the medicine cats is Mothwing and Willowshine.

What are the Clans? Con.

• WindClan

– The founding leader of this Clan is Wind; a wiry brown cat.

– WindClan cats are known for their love of open spaces.

They can also be nervous and quick to flee, due to lack of cover on the moor. They are considered the fastest of the

Clan cats, and are considered to be the most quick witted amongst the other Clans. Of all the Clans, they have the deepest knowledge of Twolegs from seeing them on the farms that surround their territory.

– They are fiercely loyal and tough.

– They prey mainly on rabbits.

– Forest territory includes: the Camp (a neat little camp that is tucked into a natural dip in the sandy moors) and the Gorge

(a deep gorge cut by the river in the terrain).

– Lake territory includes: the Camp (a shallow scoop in the ground open to the sky) and Horseplace (a place where horses live).

– The current leader of WindClan is Onestar, the deputy is

Ashfoot, and the medicine cat is Kestrelflight.

Is there a heaven and a hell in

Warriors?

• Yes, there is a Heaven and the opposite of Heaven.

• Heaven in the Warriors world is called StarClan (which is also like god).

• StarClan is the Clan for deceased clan-cats that lived good kind lives (kittypets and loners do not go to

StarClan). There world looks a lot like the real word, but bathed in moonlight. StarClan cats give prophecies to a certain cat, help cats stay on the good path, and give new leaders nine lives.

• Hell in the Warriors world is called the Place of No

Stars.

• Place of No Stars is for clan-cats that were evil and killed others. There world is like StarClan’s, but it was dark, gloomy and was bathed in a dark orange glow.

They influence cats to become evil.

Is there other groups besides the Clans, StarClan, and Place of No Stars?

There is a 5 th clan that never appears in the series but does in the Manga and

Firestar’s quest.

The used to live in a nice stretch of land near ThunderClan… until Twolegs came and destroyed

SkyClan’s home…and SkyClan was scattered. But, after a long time that SkyClan was forgotten

SkyClan was reunited once more (although it did not become a Clan).

There was a new group of cats called Tribe of Rushing Water. They were very different from the

Clans (They had a combination of a medicine cat and leader called a Healer, they called apprentices “to-bes”, they gave a To-be a certain skill they need to learn [a To-Be who learns only how to hunt will be called a Prey-hunter instead of a Warrior and a To-Be who learns how to fight will be called a Cave-guard instead of a Warrior as well], tribe Kits become To-bes when they are 8 moons old, and Kits are named after the first thing the mother sees when the kit is born) They do NOT believe in StarClan, they believe in The Tribe of Endless Hunting.

• BloodClan (which is NOT a Clan) is a “clan” full of stray and evil cats led by Scrouge and Bone.

They do not believe in StarClan, wear collars studded with cat and dog teeth, and wear dog claws as a second set of claws.

• Last (but not least) is the Ancients! The Ancients had a leader, although the leader did not have nine lives like a Clan leader does. They could step down from their position whenever they wanted, and name their successor. Knowledge of herbs was shared between a few cats, and each cat hunted for themselves, unlike the Clans. Only if prey was left over would it be given to a different cat. Rock was an ancient cat who was cursed with knowledge and living forever, and lived solely in the tunnels, part of the Ancient Tribe, but still lives "today." The majority of the

Ancient Tribes were made up by sharpclaws; the equivalent of Clan warriors. Young cats training to be sharpclaws were called softpaws (similar to apprentices), and were also given a mentor. When a softpaw was ready to become a sharpclaw, they had to undergo a rite of passage: to go down in a network of deep tunnels and find their way out. Those who found their way out passed the test and were promoted to Sharpclaws; while those who got lost eventually perished.

Could the Warrior Cats relate to

Science? How?

• Yes, because medicine cats use herbal remedies that would cure many things.

What were the medicines?

• Alder Bark - The bark is used to treat cats who get toothaches.

• Blackberry Leaves - These leaves are chewed into a pulp to treat bee stings.

• Borage Leaves - It is easily distinguished by its small blue or pink star-shaped flowers and hairy leaves. It brings down fever.

• Chamomile - A small, white flower with a yellow center, this herb can be used to strengthen the heart and soothe the mind.

• Chervil - A sweet smelling plant with large, spreading, leafy, fern like leaves and small white flowers. The juice of the leaves can be used for infected wounds, and chewing the root also helps with bellyache.

• Cobwebs - Very common in the forest. Put it on a wound to soak up blood.

• Coltsfoot - A flowering, dandelion-like plant with yellow or white flowers. The leaves are chewed into a pulp, and given to cats with difficulty breathing or a cough. It also can be used to treat cracked or sore pads.

• Comfrey - Large leaves and small shaped flowers, which range in color from pink, white, or purple. Its fat, black-colored roots, when chewed into a poultice, can be used to repair broken bones or to soothe wounds.

• Daisy Leaf - Daisy Leaves are thick, dark green, oval shaped leaves. Chewed into a paste, it can help aching joints.

• Dandelions The white liquid inside the stem is used for bee stings. Its roots can also be chewed to act like poppy seeds.

• Dock Similar to sorrel, the leaves can be chewed up and applied to soothe scratches, although it may sting when being applied to a wound, and it has a very tangy scent and taste.

• Feverfew Small bush with flowers like a daisy. The leaves can be eaten to reduce body temperature, especially cats with fever or chills. Also heals headaches.

• Goldenrod A tall, plant with bright, yellow flowers. When chewed into a poultice, it is good for healing wounds.

• Honey A golden-colored liquid that is created by bees, it is great for soothing infections, sore throats, or cats who have breathed smoke.

• Lavender A small, purple, flowering plant that cures fever and chills.

Mallow The leaves are best collected at sunhigh, when they are dry. It soothes a cat's belly.

• Marigold A low-growing flower that is bright orange or yellow in color. The petals or leaves can be chewed into a pulp and applied to wounds as a poultice to stop infection. It could be used to treat rat bites, but it's sometimes not strong enough.

Poppy Seeds Small black seeds that are shaken out of a dried poppy flower head. They can put a cat to sleep, or soothe shock and distress. They also help soothe pain.

Ragwort Leaves Crushed and mixed into a poultice with juniper berries, it can help aching joints. It can also be used to keep a cat's strength up.

• Stinging Nettle The leaves, when applied to a wound, can bring down swelling. The spiny green seeds can be given to a cat who has been poisoned by crowfood, Twoleg waste, or other toxic objects.

Snakeroot The best remedy for poison, especially for snake bites.

• Tansy The tansy plant has round, yellow leaves, and a very sweet and strong smell, making it good at disguising a cat's scent. It is used for curing coughs, but must be eaten in small doses.

• Tormentil This root is good for all wounds and expelling poison.

Thyme This herb can be eaten to calm nervousness, anxiety, and cats who are in shock.

Traveling Herbs - Traveling Herbs consists of sorrel, daisy, chamomile and burnet.

• Wild Garlic When rolled in, it can help prevent infection. Especially good for rat bites. Due to its strong smell, it is good at hiding the scent of a certain Clan, and disguising cats on raids.

Yarrow A flowering plant whose leaves can be made into a poultice, and applied to wounds to extract poison. Also will make a cat vomit. The ointment of yarrow can also be used to soften and help heal cracked paw pads.

What were the poisons?

• Nightshade Nightshade is extremely toxic to cats and Twolegs, being capable of killing a full-grown

Twoleg in under forty-five minutes.

• Deathberries Deathberries are an extremely poisonous species of red berries, and are known to

Twolegs as yew berries .

• Holly Berries Holly berries, while not as dangerous as Deathberries, are still a danger to kits.

Is there a Warrior Cats movie? If so, what is it called, based on, and rated? If not, what could it be based on and rated?

• No there is not a movie.

• If there was a movie it could be on the first book or the whole first series and it would most likely be rated PG-13 or R due to the blood.

Why did Erin Hunter write the

Warrior cats series?

• The series first began when HarperCollins asked Vicky

Holmes series about feral cats. Initially, Holmes was not very enthusiastic, since she "couldn't imagine coming up with enough ideas". She worked with the concept, however, expanding the storyline with elements of war, politics, revenge, doomed love, and religious conflict. Although the original plan was a stand-alone novel, enough material was created for several books, and the publisher decided upon a six volume series. The first volume, Into the Wild , was written by Kate Cary, under the pseudonym "Erin Hunter", and was completed in about three months. Holmes then began to work behind the scenes, editing and supervising details. Cherith Baldry joined the Erins to write the third book, Forest of Secrets . Then Tui Sutherland joined when she wrote Secrets of the Clans.

What inspired Erin Hunter to write the Warrior series?

• Erin Hunter is inspired by a love of cats, and a fascination with the ferocity of the natural world. As well as having great respect for nature in all its forms, Erin enjoys creating rich mythical explanations for animal behavior, shaped by her interest in astrology and standing stones.

What type of Manga is the Warriors

Cats Manga?

• I really do not know… I think it would be

Shōnen.

Why did the first series not stop at the 5th book?

• Most likely to see how Firestar would survive after he becomes leader

Why did Erin Hunter not stop after the first series?

• I do not know at all… I think it was because Erin Hunter thought the series was not complete.

Why did Erin Hunter not stop after the second series?

• Most likely to see how the Clans adjusted to the lake… Or because Erin Hunter thought the series was not complete.

What is the third and fourth series about?

• The third series is about Firestar’s three grandchildren, Jaypaw (Jayfeather), Lionpaw

(Lionblaze), and Hollypaw (Hollyleaf) and how what the prophecy about them (only Jayfeather, Lionblaze, and Dovekit [who was introduced by the last book of the series]).

• The fourth series is about Dovepaw (Dovewing),

Jayfeather, and Lionblaze and how they hold the power of the stars in there paws and save the Clans from the uprising of the Dark Forest (Place of no

Stars). Dovewing is also part of a prophecy that says she will bring peace to the Clans.

Could the Warrior Cats relate to

Social Studies? How?

• Yes, because sometimes a character would have to remember something that happened in a Clans’ history.

Could the Warrior Cats relate to

Math? How?

• Yes. They use measurement when hunting.

If there is a fifth series what would it be called and what would it be about?

• Yes, it would be called The New Reign Or

Dawn of the Clans.

Will there be a sixth series?

• Most likely although there is no plan for a

6 th series.

How many Warrior Cats books will there be?

• I have no idea, but there currently is 44 books (I own only 29 books).

Would the Warrior series stop if one of the four authors dies?

• The other 3 may be upset about a lose like that, but my guess in no.

What was first time the authors of

Warrior cats met?

• I do not know but, this is what I found about if or if not the 4 Erin Hunters met

– Kate Cary and Cherith Baldry have never met.

They were brought together as writing partners by Victoria Holmes.

Did Erin Hunter base the Forest and Lake Territories of something in real life? If so what

?

• The forest was based off of New Forest,

England.

• The lake was based off of nothing.

If the Forest and Lake Territories were real how big would they be?

• Well the Forest is real so it is 146 km2 (56 sq mi) of broadleaved woodland, 118 km2

(46 sq mi) of heathland and grassland, 33 km2 (13 sq mi) of wet heathland, and 84 km2 (32 sq mi) of tree plantations.

• The lake (only the lake part) would be about ¼ of a mile long.

What does the Burial place look like?

• Most likely a large area filled with shallow graves.

If I could be Firestar what would I do in the first series?

• I would say yes to join the Clan and I would fight Longtail. I would show

Yellowfang some pity, but not feed her, attempt to save the missing kits and find

Yellowfang, and tell Tigerclaw off for trying to make Ravenpaw seem like an untrustworthy cat.

If I could be Greypaw what would I do when she met Rusty?

• I would first fight Rusty, then report to my

Clan that there was an intruder on

ThunderClan territory.

What would I do if I was a cat in a Clan when Twolegs were destroying the forest?

• I would try to serve my Clan to the best.

What genre is the Warrior Cats?

• Major themes in the series include forbidden love, nature versus nurture, the reactions of different faiths meeting each other, and characters being a mix of good and bad.

Why was the Manga made?

• The Manga was made for a reason that I do not know, but it kind of is like a behind the scenes book just in comic book form.

Why are there 6 books in a series?

• Because each series is supposed to be one book, but there is so much content that they can be fitted into many books.

Why did Erin Hunter write a prophecy for each 6-part series instead of writing a problem for each book?

• Like I said before it is because there is so much content.

If Tallstar did not pick Onewhisker to become leader and let Mudclaw become leader would the story just crumble?

• YES! Mudclaw would turn WindClan to be battle-hungry and cruel!

How did Erin Hunter come up with Firestar, Brambleclaw, Tawnypelt,

Crowfeather, Feathertail, Tigerstar, Hawkfrost, Leafpool, Jayfeather, Lionblaze,

Hollyleaf, Dovewing, and Ivypool?

• Firestar was based off of a cat that Kate Cary knew.

• Brambleclaw was based off of Cherith’s cat,

Bramble.

• Tawnypelt, Crowfeather, Feathertail, Tigerstar,

Hawkfrost, Leafpool, Jayfeather, Lionblaze,

Hollyleaf, and Dovewing was not based off of anything.

• Ivypool was named after a friend's daughter, Ivy

Poole.

If my brother was Firestar what would happen? Would the story crumble?

• He would do pretty much of what I would do, so I think the story would not crumble.

If the Clans could not negotiate and travel together and split up would the story stop and become meaningless?

• Yes, in so much ways.

What would life in a camp be like?

• At dawn, the deputy appoints the daily patrols.

• Several hunting patrols leave daily.

• Some warriors always remain in the camp to guard it in case of an attack.

• Mentors train their apprentices at a designated place or take them on patrols

.

• Apprentices do chores like tidying up dens, changing used bedding, and attending to queens and elders. The elders usually tell them stories while they work.

• The medicine cat treats injured or ill cats, trains his or her apprentice if he or she has one, and leaves to gather herbs when supplies are running low.

• The leader oversees what happens in the Clan, consults with warriors, and calls a meeting if needed.

• Cats who stay in the camp usually rest, sunbathe in the clearing or share tongues. Cats are most active during morning and late afternoon; they often sleep during the night and rest at sunhigh.

• At night, one or more warriors stay awake to guard the camp while the others sleep.

What is the Clan Hierarchy?

Leader:

– Their personality is the same as their Clan's and describes how his/her Clanmates treat others. The word of the Clan leader is law, proclaimed by the warrior code, and all other

Clan cats must obey them. They have their own den, and are assisted by a deputy in their tasks. They are responsible for the whole Clan, calling Clan meetings, appointing cats to new ranks, and making the toughest decisions. Each Clan has one leader, and their names end with the suffix -star. Most leaders have 9 lives. Leaders oversee the daily operations of the Clan and give them orders , speak on behalf of their Clan at Gatherings , lead the Clan in battles , appoint new apprentices and assign them to mentors, appoint new warriors once they've finished their training, appoint a new deputy if the former deputy has died or resigned , counsel with the deputy and the senior warriors and listen to their reports, discuss prophecies and omens with their Clan's medicine cat, and listen to their advice, solve conflicts between members of the Clan, dealing with politics/conflicts that happen out of the

Clan, but can still threaten the Clan, decide if a non-Clan cat can join the Clan, exile Clan members who severely broke the warrior code or who present a danger to the Clan , going on patrols or mentoring apprentices , call Clan meetings if necessary for the good of the

Clan. Leaders are normally granted nine lives and a new name with the ending "-star" (e.g.

Rainstar, Blackstar, Smallstar) in a ceremony where nine StarClan cats come to them in a dream at the Moonstone/Moonpool. However, a leader may not receive all nine lives if the previous leader of his or her Clan is still alive; in this instance, a leader will have a life taken off the original total of nine for every life the previous leader still possesses. Sometimes

StarClan will not accept a leader, if this happens then the Clan is usually thrown into turmoil. A Leader can be exiled from the Clan and retire. In order for a cat to become

Leader the cat must have mentored at least one apprentice, selected by the previous leader to become deputy, must have been deputy at the time of the leader's death. Leaders can retire, or get exiled.

What is the Clan Hierarchy? Con.

Deputy:

– Deputies are second in command of a Clan. A deputy is chosen by the leader to be their successor. Deputies sleep in the warrior's den, they do not have their own den like leaders do. Deputies are responsible for organizing daily patrols for the Clan, such as hunting patrols and boarder patrols. If a Clan leader is unable to lead a Clan temporarily due to sickness, being away from the Clan, etc., then the deputy would take over for that time. If a deputy is sick or injured, then a warrior will temporarily take his/her place. If the leader dies, the deputy would travel to Moonstone, or Moonpool with the medicine cat to share tongues with StarClan and receive his/her nine lives. Deputies organize border and hunting patrols, help plan battle tactics, hunt and patrol for the Clan, preside for the Leader when he/she is ill or absent, assigning border patrols, listening to their reports and assigning hunting patrols, substitute for the Clan leader on Gatherings and in battles if they are unavailable, patrolling, hunting, and mentoring. To become a deputy, a cat must have trained at least one apprentice. Upon the leader's death, they become the leader and go to the

Moonstone/Moonpool so StarClan can grant them nine lives. Deputies may also retire and give up their place as deputy if they wish. In order for a cat to become Deputy the cat must be a warrior, trained at least one apprentice, must be chosen by the Clan leader.

What is the Clan Hierarchy?

Con.

• Warrior Apprentices:

– Have to be 6 moons old. Once an apprentice earns their warrior name they are a full warrior and are able to contribute to warrior duties. Apprentices can change their position as a warrior or medicine cat apprentice if they get permission, or if they have a certain injury. Tasks of apprentices include training with their mentors, going hunting, border patrol with other cats of their Clan, and looking after the elders, mostly taking ticks out of their pelts. They still have fun, as there is an old apprentice trick of telling the kits that tiny drops of rabbit dung are actually tasty berries. Apprentices cannot leave the camp without the permission of their mentor or another warrior, and they cannot eat until the elders and nursing queens eat, unless they have special permission. If an apprentice breaks a rule, they usually have to go through punishments , such as searching the elders pelts for ticks, and if they find any, they must dab some moss with mouse bile on it to get the ticks to drop off. Another punishment is cleaning out old bedding and replacing it with fresh moss. There are other punishments that have been given out, although sometimes it depends on their actions. In some cases, the leader will not allow the misbehaving apprentice to go to the next Gathering. Warrior apprentices train with their mentor whenever their mentor takes them. As an apprentice, a cat learns fighting moves, hunting and becomes familiar with the warrior code. After their mentor is satisfied with them and their skills, and after passing their final assessment, the apprentices are made into warriors after a warrior ceremony, and they keep a silent vigil watch overnight.

What is the Clan Hierarchy?

Con.

Medicine Cat Apprentice

– Medicine cat apprentices get their full name at the Moonstone/Moonpool [18].

They also stay as an apprentice for as long as their mentor is still a medicine cat, even after they receive their full name, unlike warrior apprentices. Most medicine cat apprentices take a liking of healing cats almost as soon as they are able to go outside the nursery. Kits or other apprentices can help out with the medicine duties if needed. Medicine cat apprentices are taught about healing techniques, such as how to care for a sick cat, or what herbs and medicines do. They are usually taught in the medicine cat's den, or outside the camp when they gather herbs. They also learn how to interpret signs from StarClan. After a medicine cat mentor is satisfied with their apprentice they are given a warrior name in a slightly different ceremony than a regular apprentice's. They are still known as an apprentice until the current medicine cat retires, or joins StarClan.

What is the Clan Hierarchy? Con.

• Elders:

– When a cat is too old or frail to continue their duties in their Clan, they retire to the elders' den. Sometimes, though, cats are forced to retire early, such as

Longtail, who had to retire when he became blind, or Stonepelt, who had to retire when one of his wounds would not heal. Elders are highly respected, and are known for their story-telling abilities. Sometimes, the names can be changed for elders. Or when White-eye lost her blind eye completely, she got her name changed to One-eye when she retired. They are always well-taken care of, being fed first like the kits and queens, and their pelts are checked regularly for ticks and fleas by apprentices. The elders' bedding is kept clean by the apprentices and sometimes warriors. It is often the elders that bury the dead in the Clan.

Elders are respected retired warriors that are often turned to for advice.

What is the Clan Hierarchy? Con.

• Kits

– Must be less than 6 moon old! When a kit is born, their mother or father names them, usually after its appearance, or sometimes to honor another cat of the same name.

Sometimes, though, kits have names with no apparent reason to be given . Some kits are named for something significant that happened before or when they were born.

They tend to be interested in the stories the elders tell. They are fed first and are not expected to catch their own food or do chores. No warrior may neglect a kit in danger, even if it is from a different Clan. However, half-Clan kits or those of non-Clan origins are usually frowned upon by pure-blood

Clan cats as their commitment to their foster Clan can be questioned. Half-Clan kits are usually taken in by the Clan of the mother. They are usually curious, mischievous, and playful, trying to get the Clan warriors to play with them. Kits are not allowed out of the nursery until their mother feels the time is right. After that, they can go around the camp.

What is the Clan Hierarchy?

Con.

• Warriors

– Warriors have been trained to fight and to hunt in addition warriors have to learn the Warrior Code.

Warriors make up most of a Clan. Warriors have to provide defense and security, provide food for the

Clan, go on hunting and border patrols, fighting other Clans, and mentoring apprentices. Older warriors would sleep in the middle of the warrior’s den and younger warriors would sleep on the sides.

What is a Clan structure?

• A camp would have a large open area in the middle with the opening of the camp and dens surrounding the sides. The main clearing would contain the Fresh-kill pile

(a place where hunters drop their prey) and a vantage point (a place where leaders can address their Clan).

• The opening has a couple entrances, these include:

– The way outside of the Camp.

– Burial Place: The area where dead Clanmates are buried.

– Dirtplace - A location where the cats make dirt, and dump inedible food.

• There are many dens in a camp and these dens include:

– Leader’s Den: This is den where the leader sleeps. It is usually the cleanest den in the whole camp.

– Medicine Cat's Den - This den that belongs to the medicine cat and his or her apprentice, who store their herbs and other supplies here as well.

– Warrior’s Den: This den is shared by the deputy and all the warriors. Senior warriors usually sleep towards the center, where it is warmer, while younger cats sleep near the edge, where it is colder.

– Apprentices’ Den: This is the den for apprentices.

– Nursery: This is where the kits are cared for by queens (mothers).

– Elder’s Den: This is the den where elders spend there days.

What are the ceremonies?

• There are many ceremonies. There are ceremonies for becoming an apprentice, a warrior, a medicine cat apprentice, a medicine cat, a deputy, a leader, an elder, and a name-changing ceremony.

What type of fandom is there for the Warrior Cats?

• Many people (inspired by the Warrior Cats) make their own characters. Splashkittyartist

(YouTuber) made a fan-made character name

Splash (there are others such as Plaid and

Moonstar). Some people make fan videos.

Some make websites (such as me), roleplaying Clans (such as my Clans and Tribes

[FireClan, DarkClan, WaterClan, EarthClan,

Tribe of Falling Snow, Tribe of Endless Stars,

MoonClan, and Place of Endless Night.]), and people use Warrior Cats in spoofs (American

Idol, America’s got Talent, and other random stuff). I do give people a character from Warrior

Cats that share the personality.

What do the Territories look like?

How was the Moonstone discovered?

• The Moonstone was discovered by Mothflight, an ancient WindClan cat, was a cat who was easily distracted.

• When Wind led a patrol to ShadowClan's side, Mothflight saw a blue feather floating in the breeze. She soon went closer and closer to the Thunderpath, where a monster was coming. Gorsefur saw and risked his life by pushing her away from the monster. Angrily, Wind demands to know what exactly she was doing. Mothflight replied that the feather was calling to her. Even more furious now, Wind banished her from WindClan, and Mothflight kept walking in the direction of the feather. Soon she saw a large hole in the ground, and because of her free-spirited nature, decided to climb down it.

She ended up at a large glittering rock, now called the Moonstone, and instinct told her to press her nose to it. She did, and she woke up with

StarClan surrounding her. They congratulated her, and told her that this was the Moonstone. They also told her that at the next half moon, she should bring three of their chosen cats to become the first medicine cats. Mothflight said that she was exiled, so she couldn't carry out these plans. StarClan says that she was exiled for the very reason of discovering the Moonstone.

StarClan sends a dream to Wind, who now welcomes back Mothflight as a medicine cat. Cloudspots of ThunderClan, Dapplepelt of RiverClan, and

Pebbleheart of ShadowClan also become medicine cats.

What are some major battles?

• Forest

– LionClan vs. BloodClan: After Scrouge (leader of

BloodClan) killed Tigerstar the Clans joined forces

(and created LionClan) to drive BloodClan out of the forest.

– ThunderClan vs. the Dog pack: After a pack of dogs attacked Brightpaw and Swiftpaw (killing Swiftpaw and maiming Brightpaw) ThunderClan tries to drive the dogs out. They succeeded but, Bluestar drowned in the process.

– Onestar and his followers vs. Mudclaw and his followers: When Tallstar died he gave leadership to

Onewhisker because Tallstar believed Mudclaw would lead WindClan into needless battles. So they fought and Mudclaw was killed by a falling tree.

RiverClan: After a boarder dispute ThunderClan and WindClan (with the other Clans) fought over that for 3 days straight.

– ThunderClan vs. ShadowClan: Another war lead by a boarder dispute. Neither side won.

Is there a Warrior Cats game?

• There is a paper and pencil role-playing game.

Players assume the role of a single character , having a set of attributes, created according to the rules and guidelines of the game. There is also a game master , who supervises the game, presents the scenario, and decides on outcomes by applying the rules.
