Welcome to Physics 20! Physics 20 is a prerequisite for Physics 30
which is a diploma course meant for students who want to earn a
post-secondary degree in the field of sciences. This is a rigorous, fastpaced course covering a lot of material and requiring a significant
amount of work. You must invest a significant amount of time and
effort in this course to be successful. It is suggested that a minimum of 45 minutes of
time is spent studying, reviewing notes and doing homework outside of class time daily
in order to be successful.

Daily class notes as well as assignments, supplementary tutorial videos and other
helpful resources will be posted on the course homework site regularly. Students should
be checking the course homework site at least once per week.
Calculator Policy
For all tests and quizzes, a graphing calculator or a scientific calculator will be
permitted. Your teacher must be able to clear your calculator at any time. Password

Course Overview
Unit 1: Kinematics
In this unit, you will investigate changes in
the position and velocity of objects and
systems in a study of kinematics.
Unit 2: Dynamics
In this unit, you will investigate causes of
change in the position and velocity of
objects and systems in a study of
dynamics and gravitation.
Unit 3: Circular Motion, Work and Energy
In this unit, you will extend your study of
kinematics and dynamics to uniform
circular motion and to mechanical energy,
work and power.
Unit 4: Oscillatory Motion and Mechanical
Waves
In this unit, you will investigate simple
harmonic motion and mechanical waves.
