IRAQ By, Kevin Murdock Iraq Currently • As of October 2009,the United States has about 130,000 combat forces in Iraq. • The Official word is that as of August 2010 our combat mission in Iraq will end and the number of US soldiers in Iraq will be roughly 50,000. • By December 31st 2011 no military personnel will remain in Iraq as required by the U.S. Iraq Status Forces agreement Cost of war • Total the combined cost of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars nears 1 trillion dollars. With Iraq costing roughly ¾ of the total. • Even worse the war has cost about 4,300 American lives and hundreds of thousands of Iraqi civilian lives. • In addition to this our economy has taken a severe blow which is one of the reasons for the current economic recession.
