Monsanto is currently seeking highly motivated students with the ability to work as an intern during the
Summer of 2016. Successful interns will have the opportunity to work in many operations related to
finance and accounting. From your first day, you’ll be a contributing member of the team with meaningful
responsibilities, which allows you to have a realistic look at a career with Monsanto.
Internships are available in the following areas:
 Audit: Participate in internal audits/projects of Monsanto with a team of auditors. Detailed testing to
determine the adequacy of internal controls, operational efficiencies and compliance with corporate
policies and GAAP will be performed during the audits.
 General Ledger: Balance sheet reconciliation, accuracy, validation, forecast, knowledge and
understanding. Journal entry into SAP. Involvement with the month end close process. Assist
internal/external customers with questions related to GL activity, master data and design.
 Fixed Assets: Assign and settle Internal Orders from approved Appropriation Requests. Process asset
physical inventory files. Assist internal customers with questions related to fixed asset activity. Schedule,
analyze and allocate monthly depreciation expense.
 Credit: Assist in the evaluation, recommendation and extension of credit to customers. Perform
financial analysis on customer financial statements, gather third party credit references, and assist in
making assessments regarding the strength of a customer's business. Analyze historical customer
collections to determine trends in the business. Assist in design requirements and help determine the
effectiveness of marketing promotional programs.
 Technology: Financial modeling using Microsoft Excel, project NPV analysis, sensitivity analysis,
creation of reports and presentations for management, and special projects
 Manufacturing: Account reconciliations, annual budgets, capital analysis, variance analysis, strategic
analysis supporting cost leverage projects, physical inventory audits and special projects as needed.
Manufacturing interns will have the opportunity to work either in St. Louis, MO or one of our 2
manufacturing plants, Muscatine, Iowa or New Orleans, Louisiana.
 Financial Planning and Analysis: Assist with the consolidation of financial results, variance analysis,
and other closing activities.
 Strategy: Work with the Strategy team to prepare the long range plan, compile materials for board of
director presentations, and address senior management requests.
 Procurement: Assist the Sourcing Decision Analysis, Financial Analysis, and Hedging & Risk
Management teams on supply-chain projects to generate savings and reduce risks by utilizing world-class
analytic practices.
Required Skills/Experiences:
 Sophomore standing or above
 Pursuing a bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or business related field
 Excellent oral and written communication skills
 Strong analytical and computer skills
 Ability to effectively interact with various teams at all levels of the organization
 Working knowledge of financial statements
 Excellent time management/work organization skills essential
Desired Skills: SAP knowledge
