COURSE DESCRIPTION
The purpose of the AP Macroeconomics course is to give students a thorough understanding of the principles of economics
that apply to an economic system as a whole. The course places particular emphasis on basic economic concepts, national
income and price determination, economic growth, measurement of economic performance, the financial sector,
stabilization policies, international finance, exchange rates, and balance of payments. All students enrolled in AP
Macroeconomics must take the AP Macroeconomic exam in May 2014.
The Georgia End-of-Course Test in Economics
At the end of the semester, in lieu of a final exam, all students will take the End of Course Test (EOCT) in Economics. The
EOCT is a state administered test and is mandatory for all public high school students in Georgia. The EOCT will be given at
the end of the semester. Therefore, students in AP Macroeconomics first semester will take the EOCT in December and
students enrolled in AP Macroeconomics second semester will take the EOCT in May.
