Why is Libya developing?
Thesis
This country is developing because they can’t
produce enough food to feed themselves.
Location
• Libya is in Africa.
• The absolute location of
Libya is 25º00N, 17º00E.
• The Mediterranean is
north of Libya, Algeria is
to the west, Egypt to the
east and Chad and Niger
are at its southern border.
Climate
Climate: desert-like. Libya has five different
climate zones. The dominant climates are
Mediterranean and Saharan. Most of the coastal
lowland has a Mediterranean climate, with warm
summers and mild winters. Little rainfall. Dry
weather results in an all year 98% visibility. Colder
weather in the highlands. Frosts happen at the
highest elevations. In the desert, there are very
hot summers and temperatures range extremely.
Vegetation
•The vegetation:
no plants or
sparse amounts.

date palm

Government/politics





Government type: Jamahiriya (a state of the
masses) in theory, is governed by the people
through city councils; in practice, an authority
state.
Current leader: Colonel Muammar Abu Minyar alQADHAFI (since 1, September, 1969)
suffrage: 18 years of age; universal and
technically compulsory.
There was no constitution for Libya.
They have 3 branches of government: Executive,
Legislative, and Judicial.
Colonization

The country, Libya, was indeed a colony once.
Italy colonized Libya.
Italy took over Libya on 1911.
Libya got independence on 1951.
They got independence by overthrowing the
Italian monarchy. Only a few hundred Italians
where allowed to return in the 2000s.
It has affected Libya by having a lot less people on
the lands.
Why my country is developing 1
 Reason A: bad land
 Detail #1: Libya has desert land in most
of it.
 Detail #2: detail 1 proves the whole
reason just by that; Libya can’t make
food well…
 Detail #3: but because they make so
much oil, they can buy the food from
other countries.

Reason B: war with Italy
Detail #1: when Libya was first colonized by Italy,
the Libyans where really mad.
Detail #2: they eventually adapted, and the country
flourished.
Detail #3:but sadly, the Libyans didn’t want the
Italians there because the Italians where
assimilating the Libyans, meaning copying there
culture.
After that, the country’s economy dropped again.
Why my country is developing 3
• Reason C: the Government
• Detail #1: Libya has a state of the
masses for politics.
• Detail #2: in thought, that is governed
by the people through city councils.
• Detail #3: in practice, it’s a state of total
control; meaning the people don’t know
they don’t make the choices.
Conclusion
• I believe that Libya will become
a developed country in the near
future; because they produce so
much oil & don’t really get in
wars.
