S.A.T. TEST FOR GRADE 12’S
Deadlines to register to write the SAT this year for Grade 12 students seeking admission to US universities for Fall 2016 are
coming up! Register by October 9 for the November 7 test; by November 5 for the December 6 test – later test dates are
available, but your scores may not arrive in time for admission deadlines. Check college admission sites for their deadlines;
and check the College Board’s SAT score reporting dates to post-secondary institutions online at

POST SECONDARY INSTITUTES IN BC INFO SESSION COMING TO MOODY – Thursday, Oct. 22
Join university recruiters and advisors from schools all over BC for our PSIBC info session in the Main
Gym, Small gym and MPR from 7– 9 pm. Learn about all the programs offered. Ask questions about
admissions for non-IB students as well as IB students, financial aid options, and dates and deadlines.

TRINITY WESTERN UNIVERSITY INFORMATION:
Our first Preview Weekend of the school year is on October 23–24, followed by two more on February 19–20 and
March 18–19. As always, they're free to attend. Spread the word and register soon. (They have a habit of filling up
quickly!) Did you know more than 99% ot TWU students don't pay the full cost of tuition? Academic
scholarships, financial aid, grants and loans are a few of the ways students shrink tuition costs. If you know
someone who's waffling on whether to apply, encourage them to go for it. Academic scholarship offers are
sent with our admission letters, and students can apply for TWU Aid & Awards after they're admitted. Our Fall 2016
admission application is open now. (The Financial Aid one typically opens in early December.)
UBC PHARMACY INFO SESSION: Thursday, October 29
If you’re interested in a career in Pharmacy, don’t miss this opportunity to learn about the new ‘Entry-toPractice Doctor of Pharmacy’ program. Talk with faculty and current Pharmacy students about the new
program’s admission requirements, procedures and find out what being a Pharmacy student is about. Info

UBC SAUDER SCHOOL OF BUSINESS: This is new for students applying to Commerce this year.
Students will need to provide a video of themselves answering several of their Personal Profile
questions. Find out more about this new step: Bachelor of Commerce admissions requirements
ONLINE POST SECONDARY INSTITUTION (PSI) SELECTIONS for STUDENTS
The online PSI Selections Form is now available for students graduating in the 2015/16 school year. This online
form should only be submitted by Grade 12 students who expect to graduate this school year and are applying to
a PSI for September 2016 admission. For more information please visit the Career Center website.
MOTION PICTURE AND NEW MEDIA CAREER EXPO – Wednesday, November 04
11 am – 5 pm at the Creekside Community Centre, in Olympic Village Vancouver – the annual point of access to the people,
organizations and companies that make the Motion Picture and New Media Industry in BC tick! Exhibitors this year include
Etch Media – visual effects, finishing, color correction, Vanarts -diploma programs to prepare for work in specialized areas
including Visual Effects Production, Game Asset Design, Character Animation, Digital Photography, Acting for Film &
Television, Web Development and Broadcasting, WIDC (Women in the Director’s Chair), IronHorse Motion Picture Studios,

PMSS SCHOLARSHIP INFO SESSION #2
Think you’re not ‘scholarship’ material? Think again – Port Moody’s Local Scholarship package also offers
bursaries and awards that have more to do with who you are and a whole lot less to do with grades than you
might imagine: your interests, school and community volunteering! Even if you missed the first meeting it is not
too late to get the basics on National, Entrance, Provincial, Community, District and School-based Scholarships
and Bursaries. Wednesday, November 18 at 3 pm in the Multipurpose Room.
TD CANADA TRUST SCHOLARSHIPS FOR COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP
Valued at up to $70,000 each, and awarded to Canadian students now in their final year of high school. Key
criterion: demonstrated consistent and outstanding dedication to solving a community problem or making their
community a better place, in balance with academic performance (minimum overall GPA: 75%). Each
scholarship includes up to $10,000 tuition at any approved university or college in Canada, $7,500 a year
towards living expenses and paid summer employment at TD Canada Trust, as well as mentorship opportunities

UBC MAJOR ENTRANCE SCHOLARSHIP
Students please note that the UBC Major Entrance Scholarship page regarding the application procedure and the
deadline for the Major Entrance Scholarship has now been updated online. Visit you.ubc.ca/tuitionscholarships/canadian-scholarships/major-entrance/ for details. Students wishing to be considered for a Major
Entrance Scholarship must submit their online application by December 10, 2014. This includes paying the
admission fee and submitting grade 11 and 12 marks as requested in the online application. All high school
applicants will be evaluated for the Major Entrance Scholarship based on their Academic Profile and Personal
Profile sections of the online application.
JANUARY
COQUITLAM OPTIMIST CLUB ESSAY CONTEST
Students in Grades 9 – 12 may enter the Local Club level of the Optimist International Essay Contest for a chance
to compete at the District Level, and win a $2500 college, university or trade school scholarship. This year’s
essay topic: “Lead by Example: Reality or Fiction”. The essay should be between 700-800 words long. Visit
the Career Centre online or in person for details and the application form; deadline to submit by email to

We are in need of student volunteering for the upcoming event: Chinese New Year of the Monkey 2016 at the
International Village Mall. This will be held on February 11th, 2016 - February 14th 2016 (Thursday-Sunday) at
