The French Revolution
Webquest
Introduction:
Many forces had an influence on the French Revolution. The people
of France were upset with the monarchy and how their society was
structured, which did not allow the people of France to a political
voice. France's financial crises were also a concern to the people.
The Enlightenment and revolutions in England and America would
eventually inspire those in the third estate to rise up and cause a
revolution of their own!
Task:
Your task is to choose an important figure from the French
Revolution. You will display this inoformation on a cereal box. The
information should be creative as to the theme of what a cereal box
would look like, but it should contain as much biographical
information as possible as well.
Process:
First, you will form groups (this should have been done in class).
Your group is to choose a major figure or character from the French
Revolution. You are to research you character. Please assign "jobs"
such as decorating, researching, finding pictures, creating the game,
etc. for each person in the groups so things will go smoothly. There
are certain requirements your group should have on your cereal box.
1. A catchy cereal title (using your character's name)
2. A picture of your character on the front (you may include other
pictures elsewhere on the box also)
3. "Nutrition Facts." Located on one side of the box, this is a
timeline of significant events based on your characters influence on
the Revolution
4. A Game. This should be located on one side of the box as well.
This may be a maze, a word search, secret letter decoder, a picture
in which you have to find x# of a certain item, etc.
5. A biographical essay. This should be typed on a piece of paper
(12 font) and glued on the back of your box. This is where your
research will be used the most.
6. A works cited page. Please cite all websites or resources in which
you find information you used on your box (pictures, dates, info) in
MLA format. Also wikipedia is not an acceptable source.

Evaluation:
Your group will be evaluated using a rubric. Your group will
receive points based on the accuracy of your information, the
creativity of your box, and the overall effort of each member of the
group.
Conclusion:
Students should have a better understanding of the role their
"character" played in the Revolution. Students should also learn
more about the "characters" other groups have chosen. Students
should gain insight as to how these figures influenced each stage of
the French Revolution.
