Each Friday I would like for the parent to help their pre-schooler get settled in by hanging
up their coat and backpack, putting their name tag on, finding their seat and getting started
on their morning work. When everyone has completed their morning work we will begin
with prayer and scripture memory. After recreation time, bathroom breaks and snacks we
will introduce a letter and it's sound, a number, a shape and a color. We will continually
focus on following simple directions, working in an orderly manner and being polite and
courteous to one another. Cutting, gluing, coloring, and learning through music will also
be incorporated daily.

Girls will learn to twirl and do routine twirling together with music and solo is desired.
There will be a performance at the end of the year. Costumes for this will be discussed
later. Girls will need to purchase a balanced baton. Emiron Music Store in Decatur has
batons and can measure your child for the appropriate size baton. The cost of a baton is
$20.58. You will purchase these on our own.
KINDERGARTEN 10:10 - 11:10
This class is going to be all about moving and singing!! We are going to be learning
about rhythm by playing songs and games using rhythm sticks, shakers, and hand bells.
We will also be teaching some music theory such as the Treble and Bass Clefs,
recognizing instruments, and counting rhythm. But most of all, we're all about having
hands-on fun while learning!! So if your child is all about singing and making melody
this is the class for them!!
This is a story/craft time for kindergarten age children. Children do not need to be able
to read to enjoy this class. Teacher will read a Library Book each week and do a craft
that is relative to the story. Kids will be allowed to use scissors, glue, paint, etc. as they
explore their creativity. This class will incorporate listening skills, inferring, recall,
cooperation, following direction and using fine motor skills. Students are asked to bring
a teddy bear or other favorite stuffed animal to class on the first day of co-op to help
participate in a "BEAR HUNT". SUPPLIES REQUIRED: 1 large or 2 small stick glues
per semester, box of primary color markers (Crayola are the best) & 1 pack multi-color
construction paper. Limit 15
This fun and interactive hands-on Science class will provide students with an
introduction to basic science skills such as observing, classifying, inferring, sorting,
counting, experimentation and more. Experiments will be presented in a fun,

topics. Students may be asked to occasionally bring an item from home for use during
activities or experiments.

Children should be able to read, write, and learn through crafts and experiments. We
will have weekly homework that will be applied in the classroom. The class will be
extremely fun using activities to show how God created the marvelous aquatic animal
life that we are so blessed to observe. Some of the things the children will do are:
create an ocean box, study currents and why we have high tide and low tide. We will
do experiments to show this to the children and fill out a Scientific Speculation Sheet
with each experiment we complete. Each child will need to bring a 1 inch three ring
binder to class to keep these sheets together so they are not misplaced. Each week will
be a craft, activity, experiment, or game based on the work done at home in the child’s
reading of the textbook. If they do not read the few pages assigned it will not be so fun.

The purpose of this class is to glorify God in singing! We will be singing a variety of
styles of music including sacred, seasonal, songs from musicals, etc. We will be learning
basic sight-reading skills, breathing techniques, and enunciation skills. No previous
training necessary, only a willingness to participate. I expect choir to be fun, but certainly
not a "blow off" class. I want students who want to sing. Col 3:23 says, "And whatsoever
ye do, do it heartily as to the Lord, and not unto men" therefore, I expect each student to
come to class on time, giver his/her best effort, and not miss classes except for
emergencies. My overall goal for this class is that the students who participate become
more confident and equipped to sing for the glory of God in their churches, in family
worship or wherever God provides them an opportunity to glorify Him in song. If you

An individual would normally pay $259 per course. Our students will have access to
Spanish 1, 2, and 3 for a calendar year through a subscription. All three are usually

Students will meet each Friday and will work on this course via MHCS computers. Mrs.
Yadira, a native of Mexico, will be available to help students if they need it. Students
will work at their own pace. Each student will have their own code that they will use at
school and home. High speed internet is required. Students should plan to spend at
least 30 minutes a day on this course to make reasonable progress. Students who try to
“cram” on Thursday nights will be wasting their time and your money. For more

This class will be a yearlong course on the exciting world of producing a yearbook and a
monthly school newspaper. Students should expect to learn different phases of
developing a yearbook: layout planning, cropping, photography, editing, proofreading,
selling ads, and marketing the school yearbook. We will be producing the yearbook this
year by using a software publishing system. It will be our goal as yearbook staff to cover
all the events involving MHCS. The student should expect to learn how to produce a
school newspaper. This will require the student to do outside writing assignments.
Students will need to be responsible, self-motivated, good communicators, and prompt at
meeting ALL deadlines. Also, students will need a camera. Grades will be given
according to attendance, participation, meeting deadlines, and required writing
assignments. Each student interested in being part of the yearbook staff will be
required to turn in an application. Upon review of the application, you will be
contacted before co-op registration (July 29-30) to inform you if you have been
accepted for the upcoming yearbook staff. LIMIT 8

I will be using the Omnibus study of Biblical and classical Civilizations as a guide for the
class. We will be studying Greek mythology from a Biblical perspective by using the
Bible and ancient Greek writings. The first of the class will be an overview of ancient
Greece. We will then move on to study the Iliad and Odyssey and other Greek writings,
as time permits, learning about the gods that Paul encountered when he visited Athens;
Acts 17:16 " Paul stood up in the meeting of the Areopagus and said: Men of Athens! I
see that in every way you are very religious. For as I walked around and looked carefully
at your objects of worship, I even found an altar with this inscription: TO AN
UNKNOWN GOD. Now what you worship as something unknown I am going to
proclaim to you." My goal for this class is a greater faith and admiration for the true God
by contrasting the false gods of Greece. There will be tests given and essay assignments
throughout the year. You will need to bring a three ring binder on the first day of class.

Text will be American Government in Christian Perspective 2nd Edition

Constitution, its amendments and important Supreme Court Decisions over the
years. The three branches of our government will be covered. We will also discuss
state and local governments. Students will be expected to take notes in class.
Outside reading and homework assignments will be given. Tests and quizzes will be
given on classroom discussions and outside assignments. A written report/project
may be assigned. This class is open to 11th and 12th graders. Students will receive

notes and participate in class discussions. I would like to take this class on a field
trip to Montgomery in the spring of 2011 when the Legislature is in session. I would
need some assistance from parents to make this happen. If you are interested in

The activities are developmentally sequenced. Each skill (for example, classifying)
is presented first in the semi-concrete figural-spatial form and then in the abstract
verbal form. Children learn to analyze relationships between objects, between words,
and between objects and words as they: Observe, recognize, and describe
characteristics. Distinguish similarities and differences. Identify and complete
sequences, classifications, and analogies. Easy-to-understand explanations of
concepts are followed by examples and real-life, often humorous, discussion
problems. Students learn to identify valid and invalid claims and arguments,
sufficient and insufficient evidence, fact and opinion, generalizations, emotional
arguments, inferences, deductions, and more. Limit 15
