Flip Book Project- Ray Bradbury
This project will focus on our author study of Ray Bradbury. This Flip Book
will creatively demonstrate the aspects we intend to cover about Bradbury
and also use reflection, analysis, and interpretation of his works.
Creating the Flip Book:
Materials:
3 pieces of different colored construction paper
Crayons, markers, and/or colored pencils
Stapler
Glue
1. Gather 3 sheets of 9 X 12 construction paper. Different colors make it
easiest to manipulate.
2. Position the paper so that the short side is at the top. Measure about one
inch from the top (short side) of each sheet of construction paper and draw
a line across the paper.
3. Stack paper by lining up the tops of the paper strips with the one-inch
marks on the sheet of paper below it.
4. Fold the bottom of the short side of the stack over so that the bottom
sheet of construction paper lines up with the one-inch mark on the top sheet.
This should create 6 pages, including the cover/ title page.
5. Staple the book together at the top.
6. Label the tabs for each page topic.
**A visual diagram and youtube presentation of the assemble is on the
schoolwires website for our class under Flip Book Project**
Content: You must use at least three websites for this research. You must
use the advanced google search to find .edu, .gov OR .org sites. You MAY
NOT use SPACEAGECITY.COM OR WIKI sites for your research.
Cover/ Title Page- The cover should be tastefully decorated. Our author
study covers science-fiction author, Ray Bradbury. The cover should
distinctly display this figure.
1st Tab- IMPORTANT FACTS:
The first page of the flip book should reveal 5 important facts
about Bradbury. These 5 facts should be meaningful to the author’s life.
Avoid the obvious (Ex- Birthday, Death, Marriage, Number of children, etc…).
Focus on authors career and interesting facts about his views, inspirations,
and mentality.
2nd Tab- QUOTE:
Research an appropriate quote spoken/written by Bradbury that is
meaningful to you. In a 5 (or more) sentence paragraph:
-Provide the quote. For example, Ray Bradbury once said, “Jump,
and you will find out how to unfold your wings as you fall.” DO NOT REUSE
THIS QUOTE.
- Thoroughly explain what you feel this quote means in your own
words.
- Agree or disagree with the quote. (This quote is true because... )
- Explain why.
3rd Tab- FAVORITE STORY:
In a well written paragraph, select one of the stories that we covered
by Ray Bradbury and give an in depth explanation of why you chose this
particular text. The major theme of the story must be addressed in your
explanation. There should be one topic sentence, 8 supporting details, and
one concluding/closing sentence that make up the paragraph.
4th Tab- VISUAL IMAGE:
You may use a computer image, a photograph, or a picture drawn by you
to demonstrate the way you envision your favorite story. The visual can be
of a setting, a person, a group of people, or a collage. It must include one to
two sentences explaining why you chose this visual to represent your
favorite story.
5th Tab- WORKS CITED PAGE:
Here you will use MLA format to properly cite the works you used while
researching Ray Bradbury. You must also cite any images you used from the
Internet. You will be given information on how to cite your research.
