WMST 473/673: Chicana
Feminism and Experience
MW 10-11:15 am (Fall ‘10)
Examines the work of
Chicana/Latina feminist writers,
scholars, performers, artists,
filmmakers, and activists. Themes
covered include: sexuality,
immigration, labor, family,
language, education, spirituality,
identity, patriarchy, homophobia,
racism, and much more!
Satisfies the social science and
multicultural requirement.
Both undergrad and grad students
can enroll.

Course Description:
Using lectures, class discussions/presentations,
films, and writing assignments, we will explore
such issues as racism, assimilation, sexism,
homophobia, classism, nativism, stereotyping,
alienation, resistance, marginality, and critical
consciousness, specifically focusing on the
experiences of women.
