Timberline Community Association Spring General Membership Meeting May 24, 2015 Board Present: Jim Schrumpf – President, Don Pratt – Vice President, Amy Barber – Secretary, Scott Silver – Treasurer Division Representatives present: Bill Barber, Bob Cox, Jim Burke, Hal Martin, and Rich Welfringer Meeting was called to order at 10:04 am. Board and those in attendance introduced themselves and stated the divisions in which they live. The minutes from the spring membership meeting were handed out and individually reviewed. A motion was made by Jeff Lovely and seconded by Chuck Rabura to accept the minutes as they were distributed. The vote to accept was unanimous. Officer Reports: President: Jim Schrumpf began with opening remarks, which included: A thanks and to all in attendance for the meeting and to those who attended our work party and the pool opening and barbeque. A Memorial Day remembrance of Bob Denomy and Jerry Davis, two TCA members who have recently passed as well as to all veterans and those who are currently serving in the military. Treasurer: Scott Silver, treasurer, presented a copy of the balance sheet. He reported that the finances are in good shape. Our annual budget is $65,000. We have collected $51,000 to date. We still have 30 to 40 members who have not yet submitted dues and Scott will send another reminder mailing to all. A big thanks goes out to Scott and Debbie Neitzel, our bookkeeper, for all the hard work ensuring that TCA remains financially solid. Continuing Projects: Community Center and Grounds. Lighting for the Community Center kitchen area is still a work in progress. It has been decided to install low voltage track lighting that will be on a separate circuit and include a dimmer. Scott Silver recommended that we have a carpenter install soffits over the cabinets so that the LED lights can be hung above the stove and sink area and a track system with adjustable LED lights over the work bar. Jeff Lovely asked for a budget. Scott felt that all this work could be completed for under $1,000.00. Jeff Lovely made a motion to accept this budget item and Mark Metsker seconded the motion. The vote for a lighting budget was unanimously accepted. We have not completed the search for a security camera system. Before we can finalize the choice, we must address the Internet Router/Booster needed for the Community Center. The router should not be a separate one from the pool or the security system would have to run on two different communications systems. The purchase of an overhead projector for the Community Center is also incomplete. We hope to wire and mount the device this summer. The projector could be used for movies, etc. Two benches have arrived! One will be placed near the play toy and other will be placed near the tennis courts. Pool The pool is looking great thanks to Kim and Paul. Concrete that was lifting up has been replaced and the heat pump is working; thanks Don Pratt. Copies of the pool rules are available. The board approved the moving of a water line that is too close to electrical wires. Once the water line is moved, a simple outdoor shower will be installed for easy rinsing before entering the pool. Wristbands are now available. Kim also has a petition that can be signed to convince Century Link to improve our service. New Business Other: Cover over the Community Center door: Randall woods gave an estimate to build an alline roof over the door. The window above would need to be removed to allow for the appropriate angle. The bid was $4200.00. Hal Martin suggested we consider an awning similar to the one at Blantons. The Board will look into it. Repair the Community Center door: Steve Fohn will take the lead on this project. Suggestion of lighting for the tennis court. The members present said no to this idea. The amount of summer daylight is adequate. Additional lighting might be bothersome to nearby resident. Suggestion for disc golf holes: this would be fine if someone is willing to take on the project. Each post costs approximately $160.00 New TCA sign: Amy Barber will look into bids to present at the Fall Membership Meeting Guidelines for rental/vacation units. Jim would like to see us create guidelines for homeowners and renters. Rich Welfringer shared a sheet that Summit uses. The board will research guidelines from other homeowner associations. New officers and division reps will be voted in at the September Membership meeting. Don Pratt will donate a microwave to the Community Center Pat Dyhrman wanted to get the word out about a 4th of July fun run fundraiser in Federal Way to benefit Mesothelioma. Her husband, Dick, died of the disease. More information can be found at milesformeso.org John Anderson, High Valley resident, joined our meeting. He was very impressed with the congeniality of the members and the well-run meeting. He is asking for support of his No Shooting Zone petition. Currently, shooting is legal on forestlands that are right next to private homes. John is collecting signatures so Lewis County will add an additional 1000 feet of the No Shooting Zone as a buffer between the two. This petition is also at the pool if you wish to sign your name. Remember that this summer will bring with it a high fire danger. Kim Hanson will look into the possibility of getting fire hydrants in Lower Timberline.
