Monday-Classroom Rules & Procedures
Activity : Students will navigate Mr.Brewer’s Website. Students will listen to a lecture on
classroom rules and procedures. Students will introduce themselves to the class.
Assignment: Students will nagivate the class website and become familiar with its contents
Tuesday
Outcomes: Students will understand impacts of graphic design. Students will analyze the
impacts of graphic design.
Standards: 3.8.10-A Constraints; 3.8.10-B Human Needs
Activities: Students will listen to a lecture on copyrights in graphic design. Students will identify
real-world copyright organizations. Students will list copyright regulations that are placed on
graphic designers.
Materials:
Procedures: Explain copyrights to students. Explain who is in charge of copyrights. Explain
copyright laws and regulations in graphic design.
Assessment: Students will complete a worksheet on the government copyright website
Assignment: Students will browse the copyright website and become familiar with its contents
Wednesday
Outcomes: Students will analyze graphic communication systems. Students will understand the
technology systems model.
Standards: 3.1.10-A; 3.1.10-B; 3.6.10-B
Activities: Students will listen to a lecture on the technology systems model. Students will make
a plan for their own graphics business.
Materials: 20 Computers; 20 Word Licenses; LCD Projector and Screen; Internet access
Procedures: Explain the TSM to the students. Hand out a blank technology plan worksheet to
each student. Have each student fill out the worksheet.
Assessment: Observe students ability to think of the “big picture” of graphics technology and
see the entire scope of a graphic design from a systems perspective.
Assignment: Have students exchange worksheets with a classmate and view their plan.
Thursday
Outcomes: Students will understand the design process.
Standards: 3.2.10-D; 3.8.10-A; 3.8.10-B
Activities: Students will listen to a lecture on the design process. Students will plan a graphic
design project.
Materials: 20 Computers; LCD Projector and Screen; 20 Microsoft Word Licenses
Procedures: Explain the 6-step design process to the students. Explain to them that this process
will be used for all projects. Have students use the design process to plan out a graphic design
project. Have students identify and list 5 graphic design problems.
Assessment: Assess students ability to apply the design process to a small design project. Assess
students ability to identify graphics problems and solve them with an effective graphic design.
Assignment: Have students study for the quiz tomorrow.
Friday
Outcomes: Students will understand the Technology Systems Model and the Design process.
Standards: 3.2.10-D; 3.8.10-A; 3.8.10-B; 3.1.10-A; 3.1.10-B; 3.6.10-B
Activities: Students will take a quiz on TSM and The Design Process. Students will read a chapter
on design and color in graphic design.
Materials: TSM Quiz. 20 Graphic Arts Textbooks.
Procedures: Hand out a quiz to each student. Have each student complete the quiz and hand it
in. As they finish they should grab a textbook and read the chapters on design elements and
color.
Assessment: Assess students ability to identify the parts of the TSM. Assess students ability to
identify the steps of the design process.
Assignment: Have students read the chapter in the book on graphic design elements and color.
