one world language (normally, completion of a two-semester sequence in any one world language). The requirement may
be met by completion of three or more years of high school study in one world language.
*If taking EDU210 at SCC, it needs to be taken with corequisite EDU920.
Iowa State University’s Elementary Education Program will prepare you to teach kindergarten through sixth
grade and kindergarten through 8th in a chosen endorsement area.. As an elementary education major, you'll
learn how to confidently teach in the areas of literacy, mathematics, science, and social studies. Additionally,
you'll learn how to facilitate your students' intellectual, social, emotional, and cultural development. At Iowa
State, we'll also prepare you to use cutting-edge technology in the classroom.

Degree and the requirements prior to transferring.
Application Process
Selection committee – A student seeking admission to the Iowa State University Educator Preparation
Program must be accepted by a selection committee for the specific licensure area the student seeks
to enter. Factors considered in evaluating applications may include scholarship, interest in teaching,
character, interpersonal skills, and physical and mental health. These factors are reviewed at the three
decision points throughout the program. Major concerns will result in dismissal from the Educator
Preparation Program. Click here to apply - Educator Preparation Program Application
Students must be admitted into the program to be able to student teach and to register for certain courses.
Admission to the Educator Preparation Program is on a rolling basis (anytime throughout the year, including the
summer). It may take up to 8 weeks for processing.
