Reading Workshop
• The three components of Reading Workshop are:

strategy or a reading behavior that proficient readers
apply when reading independently
– Independent Reading: students work on reading texts on
their level and applying reading strategies taught during
the focus lesson. Students also work in small groups at

Health Policies
• When calling to let the school know your
child will be absent, please call the
automated line instead of the office. The
number is 508-541-5288. This is to have
all the calls go to one place, the automated
line. You can call at any time (this is a plus
if you are up during the night w/a sick kid).
Mrs. Elias is the one to check the line so
she will note any illnesses mentioned.
Allergy Issues
• Nut Free Table – if a child has no obvious nuts or nut
products in their lunch, they will be able to sit at the nut
free table so no child has lunch alone. **We do have peanut
and tree nut allergies this year. Please refrain from sending
snacks for classroom consumption with peanuts/tree nuts.**
• Also, because of the number of food allergies and the
District Wellness policy, the school has a new policy
regarding birthdays. We are requesting that no food items
be brought to school for distribution to the class to
celebrate birthdays. Students may bring non food items
instead, such as pencils or stickers.
Field Trip
• We will be going to Plimoth Plantation
on Thursday, October 16.
• Permission slips will go home a few
weeks prior.
• We will not be going to the gift shop.
• Paper bag lunch, no glass bottles.
PARCC

tested
• Reading: March
• Math: May
• We will do practice tests prior to PARCC
