KEY SKILLS:
Problem solving – I have a strong content knowledge of mathematics at all levels and can easily brush
up on things that haven’t been seen in a while. I work hard to teach students how to articulate
their problem solving, especially being able to identify specific problems, difficulties, or
confusions.
Team Player – I am constantly collaborating with math teachers at my school as well as other middle
schools and high school math teachers for horizontal and vertical alignment. We work together
to plan units and the fluidity of content and standards taught. I am experienced at sharing ideas
and implementing strategies from other teachers.
Planning and organizing – I have refined planning and organizational skills that allow me to balance the
teaching of 3 different math classes for a total of 6 periods. In addition to curriculum planning
and implementation, I am responsible enforcing student conduct and discipline, maintaining
accurate records, and tracking measurable goals and objectives in the classroom.
Flexibility and Adaptability- I have adapted to various roles in the classroom to meet the diverse needs
of students academically, physically, and emotionally. My job responsibilities include a variety of
work and healthy amounts of flexibility in planning around lessons, outside of the classroom
activities, and emergency situations.
Initiative and Self-Direction- I manage goals and time effectively, work independently without direct
supervision to prioritize, plan, and implement the Common Core standards effectively, and
complete tasks without direct oversight, taking the initiative to do research on effective
classroom techniques and methods to present material in meaningful ways.
SUMMARY OF QUALIFICATIONS:
I am a qualified and productive teacher beginning my third year. I have an extreme passion for the field
of math education that’s highlighted in my career in many ways. I have established good working
relationships with all of my colleagues and collaborate with them on a regular basis. I have a strong
content knowledge of math, which drives my structured curriculum for my students and my high
expectations of implementing the Common Core Standards of Mathematical Practice. I continually strive
to deepen my students’ understanding of mathematical concepts by assessing their knowledge of the
Common Core Standards for Mathematics and by attending as many professional developments on
subject matter as I can.
I have excellent organization skills and work extremely well under pressure amongst a heavy work load
and deadlines. I am dedicated to providing for children’s development and educational needs by
encouraging creativity and promoting higher-order thinking to increase performance. I utilize researchbased teaching methods and implement the use of a variety of technology in the classroom including
Smartboard technologies, the TI-84 graphing calculator, and the document camera.
