Plenty of bags are available to allow weights to be kept low and the bags easy to lift and carry. Waste streams such as confidential / paper is often transferred via wheelie bins from offices to collection point. This can often undertaken by approved third party contractors licensed in handling confidential waste contractors and staff are aware of potential hazards Recycled streams for plastics and cans are generally very lightweight and can be easily handled. Batteries are generally located in dedicated collection points for collection by third party or staff – these can be heavy when full and should only be moved in small quantities or via trolley. 2 1 1 Rating Staff should be physically capable of carrying out the manual handling tasks associated with their work. Power washers and hoses must NOT be fed from uncontrolled water sources such as ponds or rain water butts where the risk of spreading contamination via aerosol is unacceptable.
