THE EGG & OSMOSIS LAB REPORT Directions: Using the lab notes and data that you kept during the three days of the egg lab, you will write a lab report showing understanding of how the egg changed as it went through osmosis. Your lab report must contain the following: 1. A title and heading with your name and period number 2. Include the following headings in your report: a. Introduction- State purpose of the lab (what you wanted to explore). What do you know about osmosis? Site the textbook (According to page …of the textbook, osmosis is… (or a semipermeable membrane is…)) b. Hypothesis- Combine your hypotheses from day 1 & day 2 of the lab (Ex: “If I submerge a raw egg into vinegar for 2 days and then Karo syrup for 2 days, then…") c. Materials d. Procedures- Basic procedures. Don’t copy all the procedures word for word. e. Results (Table and Graph)- Include titles and labels. Be sure to include a key for the graph, and Independent and Dependent variables are on the correct axis. f. Conclusioni. Restate what you were trying to find out about the effects of osmosis. ii. State whether your hypothesis was supported, unsupported, or partly supported and partly unsupported using actual data and observations. iii. Briefly discuss possible errors (things out of your control and/or human error) iv. v. What could you change about the experiment next time? Summary what you learned about osmosis and how it relates to what is happening in your body.
