(see further for more details) Return to Contents page Why do I have to label my items? When an item is sold at the sale, the label is removed at the paying table for two reasons: to enable the buyer to be charged the correct amount for their purchase and to enable the NCT to remit the net sale proceeds to you, the seller. With over 10,000 items we need to ensure that the proceeds of the sale goes to the correct seller. How do I label my items? We have introduced a new double labelling system for ALL items. You should have received an excel spreadsheet called “Label Template April 2013” with your seller registration mail along with your seller number. There are complete instructions on the first tab on how to label your items using the Label Template spreadsheet. Your sellers code number will need be populated by you with the number that you were sent by email. This number will then be populated into the excel spreadsheet with your labels, and is our way of being able to identify your items to pay you. Below are some extra tips on how to then physically label your items once you have printed them off. (Please let us know if you have difficulty in doing this) List all items of clothing first to a maximum of 40 - followed by the other items. Clothing needs to be competitively priced in order to sell, including maternity clothing. All prices must be in multiples of 50p no no no no sticky labels sellotape to be used to attach labels dressmaker (straight) pins sewing labels onto items with cotton Please complete all the details on the labels. Sometimes part of the label comes astray (particularly if sellotape is used!) Please ensure that all the details on the label match those on the Seller’s sheet. Ideal ways to label your items include: Hole punch the label in the top corner and attach using string. This is perfect for larger items such as buggies, cots etc. Using crosses string (parcel style) or a clear plastic bag to keep several items such as books together safety pins to keep items such as slings and clothes bundles together. Buyers will pull things apart, try things on and take things out of boxes to see what is included, if selling items with multiple parts please make sure each part is very well secured to another. Once you attached the items together double check you cannot shake or pull it apart. For clothes tie the label through the care label, a belt loop, or buttonhole or use a safety pin. We prefer you not to use sellotape as it sticks to other items, damages items such as book covers and can be difficult to remove quickly during the sale. Please do not laminate your labels or use card, as we need to cut the label of each sold item, and this is difficult to do when laminated. When labelling your items, please ensure that all parts of your item are firmly fastened together – for example, if you are selling a Moses basket and a stand as one item, tie them together with string. Do not use two labels. A label is our only record of whether an item has sold or not, so each label is extremely valuable to you. It is important that labels remain intact after they are removed at the tills, and that they do not stick to other labels, otherwise they can become lost. Remember, if we have no label, we cannot pay you! NEW As mentioned, we have introduced a new style label to ensure the quality of items in the sale. It consists of a two part label, as shown in the example below. If your item is sold the NCT will retain the larger part of the label so we know who and how much to pay and the buyer will retain the smaller part. This is in response to some items not being sold in “nearly new condition” and buyers being disappointed as well as buyers wanting a record of the item price. The double label spreadsheet contains full instructions of how to electronically complete, on the first tab in the Excel Spreadsheet.
