Name: _________________________ Biome: _____________________Due: _______________
Assignment: You and your partner will be assigned a biome of the world to research. Your research will be used to
design a mural showing the plants, animals, and other organisms that are found living in your biome. Consider
your mural to be a type of travel advertisement. You are showing to the world all the wonders that would be
found in your biome!
Needed: ½ sized poster - See the ones on my cabinet if you need a measure.
Part 1:
Your project must include the following pictures or images:





Pictures or drawings of at least 4 different animals found in the biome (with labels)
Pictures or drawings of at least 4 different plants found in the biome (with labels)
Maps/diagrams of where in the world your biome is found
A colorful background showing the characteristics of the biome (very little white should be showing on
your background)
A food web containing ten organisms from your biome
Part 2:
Your project must include the following written information about your biome:







Average annual precipitation*
Average annual temperature*
Unique adaptations (at least 3) of plants that allow them to survive (ex. Desert: cactus – thick outer layer
to hold in moisture)
Unique adaptations (at least 3) of animals that allow them to survive (ex. Desert: camel – hump helps
hold water for hydration)
If you visited this biome, what supplies would you take? Make sure to explain the reason for your
supplies.
Include a chart/Venn diagram comparing and contrasting your biome and another biome (Research can
be found in your textbook, on-line, books, magazines, etc.)
An example of each: mutualism, commensalism, parasitism, and predator/prey from your biome
*If your biome community is freshwater or marine, instead of writing the average precipitation and temperature
you need to describe all of the different parts of the freshwater and marine community (check your text for more
help with this)
Part 3:
On the back side of your mural, you must include work sited for your research. It must contain at least four
sources: two books, magazines or newspaper articles and two on line resources (websites).
