Invitation to 2015 Ontario Oxford Cup Qualifier
October 31st – November 1st, 2015
The Ontario Student Debating Union (OSDU) is pleased to invite you to the 2015 Ontario Oxford
Cup Qualifier to run October 31st – November 1st, 2015. This tournament will act as the
qualifying tournament for the National Oxford Cup Championships in Calgary, Alberta from
November 13th – 15th. Please understand that should you qualify for this tournament, you will
be expected to register in very short notice and book transportation to Calgary within this two
week time period.

Registration:
The registration deadline for this tournament will be October 18th, 2015, at midnight. Please
ensure that you have completed all items on this checklist by that time.
There is a registration limit of THREE teams from the same school. There will be approximately
a 48 team cap for the tournament, so please register as soon as possible.

All debaters are expected to have an adult chaperone present and registered for the event.
Unchaperoned debaters will not be permitted.
Debate Format:
This tournament will be conducted in British Parliamentary Format. It will be composed of four
impromptu rounds of debate on Saturday, followed by quarter final, semi-final, and final rounds
on Sunday. There will be no prepared resolution for this tournament. We will be using 5
minute speaking times for each speech to remain consistent with the National level Oxford Cup
Qualifier. All debates will take place in English only.

Liability Release and Insurance Agreement
Warning: This document limits the liability of the Ontario Student Debating Union and its board
members. PLEASE READ IT CAREFULLY AND ENSURE THAT YOU UNDERSTAND IT BEFORE SIGNING IT.
This form must be completed by each student and adult participating in an OSDU sponsored event and,
for participants under the age of majority, also by the participant's parent or guardian as a condition of
the participant being permitted to attend the OSDU event. For the purposes of this document, OSDU has
been constituted the agent and trustee of the persons and organizations described below, and the
document is entered into by OSDU both personally and as agent and trustee of the persons and
organizers listed below. I, the undersigned, being the above described participant (or the parent or
guardian of the above described participant) hereby consent to my (his/her) participation in this event.
In consideration of my (his/her) being a participant in this event, and the Ontario Student Debating
Union, the event's organizing committee, the agents, officers, servants, representatives and employees
of the foregoing persons and organizers of this event and permitting me (him/her) to participate in the
event, I hereby release the OSDU and the organizers for any negligence, accident, injury, sickness, or loss
which may occur during the course of the event, or while traveling to or from it. I agree to be
responsible for insuring myself (my child/ward) against all above named risks; I agree to indemnify and
save harmless the OSDU and the organizers from any loss or damage from the above named risks; I
agree to accept liability for any damage or injury done by myself (my child/ward) while attending or
traveling to or from the OSDU sponsored event.
