Activity:
1) In pairs, complete the rhetorical pyramid and questions for “The Tyger”
2) Discuss thesis statement and outline for research paper
Objectives:

To conduct independent research, develop thesis, take notes, critically
analyze using secondary sources, edit, and produce a final product.

To compare two of William Blake’s poems
Tuesday
Activity:
1. Write a comparison/contrast paragraph about “The Lamb” and “The
Tyger”
2. Continue to work on independent research project
Objectives:

To write an short literary analysis comparing/contrasting two poems

To conduct independent research by developing a thesis statement, creating
an outline, and taking notes on secondary sources.
Wednesday
Activity:
1. Define lyric poetry
2. Read “Imitations of Immortality” and discuss how this fits the lyric poetry
definition
3. Read “Composed Upon Westminster Bridge” and discuss how it is an Italian
sonnet
Objectives:

To define lyric poem and Italian sonnet

To read for understanding and connotation
Thursday-Friday
Bell Ringer: Twelfth Night Mischief Lesson
Activity:
1. To read and analyze selected cantos from Byron’s “Don Juan”
2. To answer comprehension questions for the poem
Objectives:

To read and analyze poems for format, theme, figurative language, etc…
