Stand up next to your chair/desk
Hold out one of your hands (flatly with fingers together)
Take a pen/pencil and place it on top of your flat hand.
Now without using your other hand TRY to catch the pen or
pencil (one handed).
• Can you do 1 or more pens/pencils? 2? 3?
• Take turns with someone else if you don’t have a pen/pencil
• How many times can you do it in a minute?
PERSISTENCE
• Persistence: the quality that allows someone to
continue doing something or trying to do something
even though it is difficult or opposed by other people
• So, if you didn’t succeed the first time at catching the
pencil…did you try again and again. THAT is
PERSISTANCE…NOT GIVING UP!

GOAL…PERSIST…Don’t GIVE UP!
• OR Challenge yourself even more!!!
