INSTRUCTIONS FOR CLEANING THE DRINKING WATER FILLER PIPE IN MOTORHOMES By zappysblog.co.uk The filler pipe can be cleaned in two ways: Method 1 Using a 12v pump to dose the liquid through the jetting device to clean the inside of the filler pipe. I use the EASY 14 14l per min (£11 from EBay) to transfer fresh water from my Fiamma Roll Tank but any water carrier will suffice. Method 2 If you don’t have a 12v pump (see page 4) the disinfection can be achieved with the use of a watering can to dispense the tablet solution into the filler pipe whilst using the Zappyjet at mains pressure. Method 1: Cleaning the Filler Pipe with the Use of a 12v Electric Pump. 1. First you will need to purchase a length of 1/2 inch clear plastic tube (although any standard 1/2 inch hose will fit) of a length equal to the length of the filler pipe usually 1M is about right. Connect the tube to the device and fix with a jubilee screw clip. (It will be easier if you warm the end of the hose in hot water) 2. Start with steps 1 and 2 of the Tablet instructions (making sure the hot system is full) and add the correct amount of tablets for the size of your tank (from the table with the tablet instructions) to the container and fill with water. The solution will be stronger but that’s OK as it will be diluted to the correct strength later and it will help to eliminate the bio film on the inside of the filler pipe. Or Bucket Fiamma Water Roll 3. Join the pipe from the pump to the Zappyjet and fasten with a Jubilee clip. I use 3/8” clear plastic hose which slips inside the 1/2” clear plastic hose available from aquatic or caravan centres. Make sure that this is done before switching on pump or chorine solution will be sprayed from the jets. Observe the safety guidelines with the tablets, and wear eye protection as a precaution. 6. Switch on the pump and work the jet slowly up and down in the filler pipe until all the liquid in the container is gone. Insert Zappyjet before switching pump on. When all the disinfection solution has been used disconnect the pump and connect the Zappyjet to the to the mains water supply hose via a standard 1/2 inch hosepipe. For this I use a standard 3/4 inch hose coupler, but any of the Hozelok fittings range will fit. Alternatively connect the Zappyjet directly to the hose pipe using hose clip provided. 8. Insert the Zappyjet into the filler pipe and turn on the mains water. Work the jets up and down the filler pipe to wash away the slime, algae etc. With the mains water on, slowly up and down in the filler pipe Rapid Release Tablet Instructions 9. Continue until the filler pipe is clean or until the tank is full and continue from step 3 to 7 of the cleaning instructions for the tablets.
