Participants come to terms with human nature, ultimate reality, history, ethics, and religious meaning. Begins with an introduction to our seven UU Principles. Facilitated by Bill Howe. January 5 ● February 2 ● March 2 ● March 30 ● April 27 at Noon The culmination of the Building Your Own Theology course will include an optional trip to Boston on Memorial Day Weekend. The Promises We Make A one-day workshop exploring the history, language, and power of covenant. Choose from two dates: Saturday, January 11, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, February 1, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Lunch provided. Childcare available. Central Unitarian Church is currently engaged in a covenanting process, the latest initiative of the Threshold Team. Learn what it means to be in covenanted community and how the process works. “Covenant” has been a part of our Unitarian Universalist tradition since our forebears first sought to be a free church. Instead of creeds or doctrines we make promises to each other, creating bonds of commitment and love through covenantal relationships. This workshop considers the history and meaning of covenant in our religious tradition, the difference between a covenant and a statement of belief, the use of “compassionate communications,” and the power of covenant in maintaining right relationships. Facilitated by Robin Slaw, David Horst, and the Threshold Team. Welcome all visitors! We invite you to make Central Unitarian Church your religious home. Come by to fill out a visitors form to receive our newsletter and other information. We will be there before and after service. On the Stage Visitors grab a cup of coffee and join us on the stage to know about CUC and as we talk about Central Unitarian Church, who we are, why we are and what we hope to be. Every Unitarian Universalist congregation has its own personality and chooses different ways to serve its members and the greater community. This informal meeting is just one of the ways in which Membership can help you answer the question: "Is CUC the place for you?" Childcare is provided. If you have any questions about the Path to Membership or the meaning of membership here at CUC, please leave your name and phone or e-mail with the host at the Welcome Center on any Sunday, and we will contact you directly, or see Lisa Horton, Chair, Membership Committee.
